Switzerland is steering into the era of autonomous mobility. A recent legislative change permits driverless vehicle testing on public roads without an onboard safety operator, transferring licensing and safety oversight responsibilities from federal authorities to the cantons.

Over the past decade, approximately 30 major automated vehicle projects have been initiated across the country, encompassing buses, taxis, delivery vans, and more.

With ongoing trials and collaborations, Switzerland could witness autonomous cars and buses operating in real-life conditions within the next three years.
