You humans know in theory everything you need to be happy, and yet many of you struggle, live in the past, and find it difficult to focus on the beautiful things in life. Life gives us tasks so that we can grow and learn from them.
Everything revolves around “longevity” instead of subordinating everything to “happiness.” What good is a long life if it was not filled with joy and fun? What good is a healthy and strong body if the soul is not happy?
My mom has subordinated everything to “happiness” for many years. At some point, she simply realized that you have to let go of the past to find happiness in the present. Mom always says that I helped her with this because I celebrated life in the present and the past had no value for me. To be honest, I never understood why so many people mourn things they can no longer change. But I guess that's just a dog-human thing.
Look ahead, live in the present, and don't let the past dominate your current life. It's a part of it—don't give it more space than it deserves.
