EBERHARD & CO. CELEBRATES TIME WITH A NEW CHRONOGRAPH IN ITS MUSEUM

Last October, on the occasion of World Watch Day, Eberhard & Co. celebrated its enduring passion for watchmaking by welcoming a new timepiece into the permanent collection of its Museum in La Chaux-de-Fonds: a 1941 wrist chronograph, a genuine testament to the Maison’s first extraordinary era of chronograph creation.

A Masterpiece from 1941

The timepiece is powered by a mechanical hand-wound chronograph movement, calibre EB 1600 16’’’, featuring a mechanical device that allows the chronograph to be temporarily stopped and restarted without resetting to zero, thanks to the presence, at 4 o’clock, of a sliding pusher: a distinctive hallmark of Eberhard & Co. timepieces from that period. The 2 o’clock pusher controls the start, stop, and reset functions of the chronograph. The case, with its harmonious lines, measures 40 mm in diameter and features a stepped bezel, along with pushers and a crown in stainless steel. Its matte black dial, rich in detail yet perfectly balanced, showcases gold-tone Arabic numerals and indexes, two counters, an outer telemetric scale, a 1/5-second division around the minute track, and the signature spiral tachymeter scale at its centre.

A Timepiece, A Story

This sport-inspired chronograph is not merely a precious object, it is a symbol of a time when aesthetic refinement evolved hand in hand with technical advancement and the Maison’s relentless drive for innovation.

Founded in 1887 by Georges-Lucien Eberhard, the Maison had already introduced the first single-pusher wrist chronograph in 1919, marking the beginning of a tradition that would leave a lasting imprint on Swiss watchmaking. By the 1930s, Eberhard & Co. had produced chronographs that became a distinctive mark of the officers of the Royal Italian Navy.

The 1941 model emerged during a period of great dynamism. Just one year later, in 1942, the Maison unveiled the renowned Magini System, an astronomical navigation chronograph that accompanied the historic Rome–Tokyo flight.

A New Addition to the Museum

With the arrival of this chronograph in the Eberhard & Co. Museum, the Maison reaffirms its commitment to preserving and celebrating its heritage.

This 1st World Watch Day became a moment to honour the past, while keeping its heart firmly set on innovation.

Great success at the 65th edition of Genoa International Boat Show

Eberhard & Co. has renewed for the fourth consecutive year its role as Official Timekeeper of the Genoa International Boat Show, a benchmark event for the sector and an outstanding showcase which, in its 2025 edition, recorded great public success with over 124,000 visitors, up 2.8% compared to last year.

Among the most significant moments of the brand’s presence at the Show was the talk “The Challenge of Time”, featuring Mario Peserico, General Manager of Eberhard & Co., together with rally champion and Maison Ambassador Miki Biasion, the most successful Italian driver of all time.

Inside the Lounge, visitors were able to discover some of the Maison’s most distinctive creations, starting with the new Contodat collection, a symbol of Eberhard & Co.’s sporting elegance, alongside the professional Scafograf divers and the exclusive-caliber Chronographe 1887 models.

ENGLISH - The crown

A crown that isn’t fully pushed in or properly screwed down (in models with screw-down crowns) is the most common cause of water infiltration, even in new watches. Do the right thing: 1/ before every swim or water exposure, make sure the crown is fully closed, 2/after each adjustment (time, date, winding), check that it’s back in the correct position, 3/ if you feel something strange (excessive play or resistance), avoid water and have the watch checked.

Una corona mal chiusa, non spinta fino in fondo o non avvitata correttamente (nei modelli con chiusura a vite), è la causa più frequente di infiltrazioni d’acqua, anche in orologi nuovi. Il gesto giusto: 1/ Prima di ogni bagno o esposizione all’acqua, assicuratevi che la corona sia ben chiusa, 2/ dopo ogni regolazione (ora, data, carica), fate attenzione a riportarla nella sua posizione corretta, 3/ se notate una sensazione strana, un gioco anomalo o una resistenza eccessiva, evitate il contatto con l’acqua e fate esaminare l’orologio. Un solo secondo di disattenzione può compromettere anni di precisione.
