Geneva Junior Music Competition is an international online music competition with the overarching goal to inspire and challenge young talented musicians from all around the globe and to help them launch their international careers. Cash prizes will be awarded with prizewinners benefiting from media visibility on our online social media platform and support in the development of their career throug

🌟Meet our Jury Member!🌟
Today, we are proud to present Christian Chamorel 🎶

Christian Chamorel is a leading French-speaking Swiss pianist with international recognition. Renowned for his dedication to Lied and chamber music, he is a sought-after collaborator known for his generosity and communication skills.

He has performed at prestigious festivals and venues worldwide, including the US, Canada, Beijing’s NCPA, Tokyo’s Kioi Hall, Berlin’s Konzerthaus, London’s Wigmore Hall, and Geneva’s Victoria Hall. A prizewinner of major international competitions, he frequently plays with orchestras across the globe.

Chamorel’s recordings of Liszt, Mendelssohn, Franck, and Mozart have earned critical acclaim, with two nominated for Best Recording of the Year at the International Classical Music Awards. He is the founder and artistic director of the “Mont Musical” festival and serves as a Professor at the Haute Ecole de Musique in Fribourg.

🎶 This award will honor the best performances of works by Gabriel Fauré (180th anniversary of his birth) and Maurice Ravel (150th anniversary of his birth), two of the most remarkable French composers.

Congratulations to our talented laureate 2023 Maria Sotriffer! 🎻

We are hqppy to celebrate her latest achievement — winning First Prize at the International Vaclav Huml Competition!

In addition, she was awarded several concert prizes, giving her the opportunity to perform with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra and the Zagreb Soloists.

Her performance of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in the finals, accompanied by the amazing orchestra and under the direction of Maestro Pavle Zajcev, was outstanding!

🌟Meet our Jury Member!🌟
Today, we are proud to present Svetlana Makarova 🎶

Renowned for her virtuosity and expressiveness, Russian violinist
Svetlana Makarova performs at top festivals and prestigious venues
worldwide, including Zurich’s Tonhalle, La Scala, and Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Hall.
A prodigy, she won First Prize at the Tchaikovsky Youth Competition at 10 and later earned a doctorate on violin virtuosity from the Moscow Conservatory. Invited by Lorin Maazel in 2008 to join Valencia’s Palau de Les Arts orchestra, she launched her international career, collaborating with conductors like Zubin Mehta, James Levine, and Gustavo Dudamel.

As a soloist, she has performed with major orchestras (Kremerata Baltica, Moscow Symphony) and renowned chamber musicians. Passionate about contemporary music, she has premiered works by leading composers. Her recordings for Naxos are widely acclaimed.
A dedicated educator, she teaches at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne,
with students winning top competitions.
She also gives masterclasses at elite institutions and serves as a juror for
major violin competitions. Makarova plays a 1745 Niccolò Gagliano violin.

We are delighted to continue unveiling the distinguished panel behind the 2025 edition of the Geneva Junior Music Competition.
Today, we are proud to present Raphaël Merlin🎶

"Composer, conductor, cellist, and Musical Director of the Geneva Chamber Orchestra, Raphaël Merlin follows a diverse and passionate artistic journey marked by eclecticism, curiosity, and dedication.
As a member of the Ebène Quartet, Raphaël has performed on major stages worldwide alongside exceptional musicians. Their unprecedented success at the 2004 ARD Music Competition marked the beginning of the quartet’s rise to fame, followed by numerous prizes and awards. The quartet signed an exclusive contract with Virgin Classics under the Erato label of Warner Classics. Their albums have earned prestigious accolades, including Gramophone's Editor's Choice, Choc du Monde de la Musique, CD of the Week in The Sunday Times, Choc Classica, Diapason d'Or, and Gramophone of the Month. Parallel to this, Raphaël's conducting career has flourished with fruitful collaborations.
He has been invited to conduct prestigious orchestras and has been represented by RSB Artists since 2017. A passionate teacher, he also gives chamber music masterclasses worldwide."

✨We’re thrilled to launch the 2025 edition of the Geneva Junior Music Competition!

➡️Applications are now open until November 15, 2025 and we can’t wait to discover the next generation of exceptional young musicians from all around the world.✨

Let’s start by introducing our first Jury Member – Internationally renowned cellist & educator : Emmanuelle Bertrand🎻

"Emmanuelle Bertrand is one of Europe's most prominent cellists, a winner of numerous international awards, including "Artist of the Year" (Diapason & France Musique, 2011), 3 Diapason d'Or of the Year, the Simone and Cino Del Duca Prize, and two Victoires de la Musique. At 25, composer H. Dutilleux described her as a "true revelation. " Since then, she has premiered works by Nicolas Bacri, Thierry Escaich, Édith Canat de Chizy, Bernard Cavanna, and performed the world premiere of Berio's Chanson pour Pierre Boulez. A sought-after soloist worldwide, she explores the connection between music and literature, collaborating with Laurent Terzieff and co- writing Le Block 15 ou la Musique en résistance(2005). She also created Le violoncelle de guerre (2011), a performance she toured with actors such as Didier Sandre and Richard Bohringer. She teaches cello and chamber music at the CNSM of Paris."

We are thrilled to announce the 2nd Edition of the Geneva Junior Music Competition — an international online competition for young talented classical musicians from 5 to 30 years old.

After the success of our inaugural edition, we are proud to continue encouraging young talents worldwide.
New this year: a Chamber Music category for trios and quartets (ages 15–30), joining our solo categories for piano, violin, and cello.

Categories
🎼 Junior (A, B, C, D): Ages 5–16
🎼 Virtuoso: Ages 17–25
🎼 Chamber Music: String/Piano Trios & String Quartets, Ages 15–30
