Daniel Rohner Documenta 6
Softcover, 32 pages, 100×160 mm
ISBN 978-2-940409-82-2

Documenta 6 was published in the context of the exhibition Orphan Papers, which was held in the art library at Sitterwerk, St Gallen. This book is a facsimile of the art book collector Daniel Rohner's diary, when he visited Kassel from the 19th March to the 1st April 1977 - and sheds some light onto what his interests were. This pocket-sized diary was found by Izet Sheshivari, within the pages of the art journal Kunstforum: Talk show der documenta 6: Stichwortgeber: Georg Jappe (GM608796). This diary is one of six hundred documents which were reproduced and catalogued by Izet Sheshivari for the exhibition. It is accessible via the online catalogue of the Sitterwerk art library, as one of the many cut-outs, notes and manuscripts that were found amongst the library's books.

“A Metaphysical Interior” is the title of the book that was published on a proposal from Luca Lo Pinto during the exhibition “D’après Giorgio”, which was held at the Fondazione Giorgio e Isa de Chirico from 27th January 2012 to 27th January 2013. Housed in the House Museum at 31 Piazza di Spagna in Rome, the exhibition brought together works by the following artists: Alek O., Darren Bader, Nina Beier, Carola Bonfili, Benny Chirico, Patrizio Di Massimo, Giulio Frigo, Julia Frommel, Martino Gamper, Paul Armand Gette, Nicolas Hatfull, Isola & Norzi, Tobias Madison & Kaspar Mueller, Marcello Maloberti, Carlo Mollino, Momus, Olaf Nicolai, Henrik Olesen, Nicola Pecoraro, Emilio Prini, Dan Rees, Alexandre Singh, John Stezaker, Luca Trevisani, Luca Vitone, and Raphael Zarka. The book presents the result of a correspondence protocol suggested by Izet Sheshivari at the curator’s invitation. After receiving and printing the 214 illustrations sent by the artist, Luca Lo Pinto arranged the pictures within the museum space, and documented them in situ. Featuring captions, the book provides “augmented” perspectives from a visit of Giorgio de Chirico’s flat. Page after page, the book generates an ever-changing relationship between the meaning of a flat interior design and the remote discovery of works by contemporary artists.

Elizabeth Lebon
The Book of Ghost
Softcover, 32 pages, 80×120 mm

Elizabeth Lebon writes poems, stories and performances, usually with the help of a type-writer. The choice of paper, as well as its format, is centrally important to the conceptualization and experimentation of this artist; Lebon has written, typed and sewn as many words onto baking paper and cash-register rolls as onto blank pages of A4. The resulting text-objects give thoughts material, aural and autonomous form, and are reminiscent of both the precepts of Ulises Carrión’s The new art of making books, and of the work of metaphysical poets of the English renaissance. The author’s poetic language – and constellations of ideas – transport us, so that the book form, and the typography on the page, surprise and delight.

Boabooks started by publishing notepads with artists. A reprint from all our notepad's by artists we published can be seeing and order at in the serie fink twice (28 books for 24 artists).
At that time, when we started to publish it was out of a necessity more then a commodity. Questions related to formats, proportions, messages, and finding alternatives and creative way to express their messages was at the core of the artists intentions and we share our expertises.

This book is about writing as well as consuming, banality, art history and the meaning of the copy, overlapping and painting. You could use it like a shopping list and you cannot preserve it thank to the carbon paper.
