Another timeless : Cinema LUX in Massagno.

With its aerial and spacious architecture, this modest yet iconic building evokes a bygone era and stands as a quiet stronghold for auteur cinema in the Lugano region.

Built in 1958 and designed by architect Costantino Pozzi of Massachusetts, the venue spans two levels with separate entrances: the Cinema Hall entrance on Via Motta and the Cosmo Hall entrance on the south-facing lower level.

Preserved in its original form, the LUX offers a timeless aesthetic that makes it a unique and atmospheric backdrop for films, documentaries, period pieces, or photo shoots.

Our section Ticino in Film gives you access to a selection of films, television shows, and audiovisual productions made in Ticino, showing you where to watch feature films via video-on-demand streaming platforms. The films are also available on Filmo, which launched the first online edition of Swiss Cinema, aimed at increasing the visibility of classic films in the digital space, thus building a bridge between national cultural heritage and the growing demand for on-demand films.

Antonio La Camera (1990) is an Italian director and screenwriter.
His short films have been screened at over 150 national and international festivals, earning more than 40 awards worldwide.
In 2022, he was selected for the prestigious CreatorsLab, where he shot the Italo-Spanish short film
“Las Memorias Perdidas de los Árboles” in the Peruvian Amazon rainforest under the mentorship of legendary filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Palme d’Or winner at the Cannes Film Festival. The film had its world premiere at the 80th Venice International Film Festival (2023) as part of the 38th International Critics’ Week, where it won the Best Short Film Award.
His feature film project “Demoni & Polvere” was selected for the InProgress 2024 development lab organized by Milano Film Network, where it was developed under the guidance of Michelangelo Frammartino.
In 2025, he was selected for the Locarno Spring Academy, where he directed the short film “Le Mur du Son” under the mentorship of Caroline Poggi and Jonathan Vinel. The film will premiere at the 78th Locarno Film Festival.

Antonio is currently developing his debut film “Demoni & Polvere” with Waterclock production.

Isola Produzioni è una realtà che crede nel talento autentico e nella forza del regista come autore.

Siamo felici e orgogliosi di annunciare che "Le Mur du Son" di Antonio La Camera è stato selezionato al Locarno Film Festival, uno dei più importanti appuntamenti del cinema internazionale.

Un cortometraggio poetico e potente, che segna la conferma di una voce rara.

Abbiamo deciso di sostenere Antonio perché la sua visione ci ha colpiti fin da subito. È un autore che ha qualcosa da dire, e sa come dirlo. Ne sentiremo ancora parlare.
