| Slabs stacked into a slope.

The Haus auf Scheiben by dolmus grows from a solid concrete base of stacked slabs, anchored into a sloped site. This lower level holds a secondary apartment, entrance, and garage, pushing through the terrain at points to hold a direct link to the topography. Above, a compact core anchors the living spaces around it.

| Three days, floor to roof.

The Tower House by kit | architects went from a stack of prefabricated spruce panels to a fully assembled family home in three days. Walls, floors, and ceilings arrived offsite and clicked into place, cutting waste and site disruption. Inside, the timber stays exposed. A concrete core handles services and draws air upward for ventilation.

| Lime facade, Just enough treatment to protect it, nothing more.

The House Lohn by Röösli Architekten wears a lime render finished with only a single coat of impregnation, enough to protect it without hiding its natural color. Underneath, the walls continue Val Schons’s monolithic masonry tradition, built in brick rather than the usual rubble stone. Windows of varying sizes sit at different depths in the wall.

| Scale hidden in the details.

The House Herrengasse by ao-architekten defines a residential building at a scale that could overwhelm its street, yet the materials and form root it in something older. Intrecated timber details alternates with copper accents at each level, and a concrete plinth grounds the volume, giving this larger housing project a quiet, almost farmhouse presence.

| Lifted on piles, light on the ground.

The Plywood House by charly jolliet architects keeps the exact gap once left between two garden cabins, and the valley view it framed. Sleeping sits beneath an old oak, living opens to the valley, a cold roof ties both together. Inside, plywood lines every room, wood species the only shift in tone.

| Tradition, borrowed and rearranged.

The House K by Seiler Linhart Architekten takes cues from Obwalden’s timber tradition, then rearranges them until the result reads as its own. The Kung family, who run the local carpentry behind the build, wanted a house that honored the material without repeating its shapes. A central core lets rooms connect two ways.

| Timber shapes this commercial project. From costs to coworkers.

The EKT Werkhof extension by kit | architects tested several structural options, wood and concrete, before its client chose a stacked spruce timber frame despite the higher price. That decision shapes the open offices inside, where exposed timber struts span three floors without columns and h**p fiber clay panels and exposed spruce trusses replace the usual office materials.

| This plus-energy house has a timber clad terrace.

The Haus Debrunner by Bauatelier Metzler Bauatelier Metzler sets a trellis into its south wall, letting the kitchen garden grow straight up the house. The masonry underneath stays deliberately plain, robust and well-proportioned. Photovoltaic covers the roof making this a plus-energy house and timber-clad terrace on the west side catches the evening sun toward Burg Hohenklingen.

| A School as a vessel.

The La Nave by Carlos Martinez Architekten Carlos Martinez Architekten borrows its name from the Spanish word for ship, and follows the idea through in built form, a vessel children board and travel through as they grow. Built from timber and clad in wooden shingles with the main stair connecting all four floors while windows scatter across the facade in curved language of the ship.

| A concrete base that frames the addition.

The Haus T by Atelier SCHMIDT GmbH adds a new volume anchored by a concrete base that climbs the hillside side holding the timber structure above like a frame. Rather than matching the original building, the extension sets up a new symbiosis between old and new. The timber interior stays fully exposed throughout.
