For , the United Nations’ new visitor centre in Geneva, we developed Geneva Working for the World, a kinetic installation exploring the inner workings of multilateralism. Three moving hands reveal how UN organisations and their partners act collectively in the service of the world.
The UN Geneva is a living ecosystem of global cooperation, where every action, initiative, and partnership contributes to a greater whole. This collaborative force is embodied in the form of a watch mechanism, a symbol of Swiss precision: interlocked gears set in motion by the Palais des Nations and the spirit of Geneva, symbolized by a pendulum and a spring.
At the heart of this mechanism, kinetic clockhands are complemented by circular screens — reminiscent of a magnifying glass — inviting the audience to discover how multilateralism works in practice, through the concrete contributions of each organisation and partner.
The whole structure is superimposed on a topographical map of the Geneva region, centered on the Palais des Nations, rooting this global ecosystem in its local context.
