The EPA is proud to announce that from January 1st, 2021, its journal Photochemical & Photobiological Sciences will be published by Springer Nature. A 5-year contract was signed by the two ownership societies, the EPA and the ESP, to develop, publish, and promote the journal, after the Royal Society of Chemistry, which published the journal since 2002, informed us that it would not seek to prolong the publishing contract and instead focus on its core journals. Work is well under way to ensure a smooth transition for both authors and readers, and maintain continued access to the journal and its archives for society members.

The EPA is delighted to embark on this stimulating partnership with Springer Nature for the continued success of PPS and is very excited by the opportunities it brings. The new publishing agreement will carry new benefits for our members and add to the visibility of the journal. This change will have no impact on the manuscript flow, from submission to publication. PPS will maintain its impact factor and continue to be included in bibliometric databases.

Our new publishing partners, represented by Steffen Pauly, share our enthusiasm: “We look forward to publishing PPS and developing content and strategy of the journal in the next five years. By adding this comprehensive journal to our portfolio we are pleased to be able to offer our readers more high-quality content in the fields of photochemistry and photobiology.”

Dear EPA members,

Every two years, EPA’s General Council (GC) meets to elect its Executive Committee (EC) and to review the activities of the expiring term. This traditionally happens during the PhotoIUPAC symposium where a large fraction of our community is represented. Since the PhotoIUPAC symposium of 2020 in Amsterdam has been cancelled due to the global health situation, the EC has decided that the GC meeting will take place via a videoconference call. The agenda and technical details will follow in due course, but we would like you to already reserve the date of September 22, 2020, in the late afternoon for this virtual meeting.

With best regards

The Executive Committee

NEWS! PostDoc Position available in theoretical phtochemistry/photophysics!!

A postDoc position will be available to work with Dr. Roberto Improta at the Italian National Research Council (CNR), Istituto diBiostruttura e Bioimmagini, Naples, Italy. The project will deal with the theoretical study of the photophysics and photochemistry of nucleic acids, and, in particular, with the development of model Hamiltonians for the study of charger transfer processes in polynucleotides. The research activities will be performed in the framework of the EU-H2020 Marie-Curie Network LightDyNAmics (www.lightdynamics.eu), which is coordinated by Roberto Improta, in collaboration with leading experimental and theoretical groups in the field, and, in particular, with Dr. F. Santoro at ICCOM-CNR.
Applicants should have (or be about to receive) a PhD in theoretical chemistry or physics, or in a related area. We are seeking candidates with significant expertise in the study of electronic excited states and possibly, quantum or semiclassical dynamical methods for nonadiabatic processes. Since the candidate is expected to collaborate to the scientific management of the LightDynamics network, previous experience in the coordination of scientific networks is appreciated.
The position is for one year and it can be extended up to 3 years, and will approximately start in January 2019. The salary will be of ca. 1700-1800 euro per month, after taxes.
The interested candidates should send their cv (including the name of three possible scientists to be contacted for recommendation letters) to [email protected]

LightDyNAmics is a multidisciplinary European Training Network funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action.
