The next edition of the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition will take place in Sion from August 22 to 30, 2025 🎻
A total of 28 young violinists under the age of 30 will compete before an international jury chaired by Pavel Vernikov 🤩

The draw marks the official launch of the Tibor Varga Competition. Held on August 22 at 4pm at the Pôle Musique in Sion, this solemn moment brings together all the selected candidates and the members of the international jury ✨

📅 Key dates for the Tibor Varga Competition 2025 :

📍 August 22, 4pm: Draw - Pôle Musique - Aula FXB (free admission)
🎻 August 23-24: 1st round - 28 candidates - Pôle Musique - Aula FXB (free admission)
🎻 August 25-26: 2nd round - 12 candidates - Pôle Musique - Aula FXB (free admission)
🎶 August 28, from 6:30pm: 3rd round - 6 candidates with Ekaterina Shelehova (soprano), Thomas Grossenbacher (cello) and Adrian Oetiker (piano) - Great Hall, Noda BCVS
🎼 August 30, 7:30pm: Final - 3 finalists with the South Czech Philharmonic and winds from prestigious Italian orchestras, conducted by Valentin Uryupin - Great Hall, Noda BCVS

🎟️ All rounds will be video-streamed. The final will be recorded by Canal 9 television and broadcast on a delayed basis.

In the sublime setting of the Opale Foundation and its new exhibition Sous les Reflets du Monde, three Académie teachers offer a musical moment suspended in time. The program, rich in contrasts, takes us from the refined French repertoire of the early 20th century to contemporary sounds from a variety of horizons. Flute, violin and harp weave a subtle dialogue in which light and dream answer each other ✨

Our Story

Le Concours international de Violon Tibor Varga a lieu tous les deux ans, au mois d'août, et s'adresse aux jeunes musiciens professionnels de moins de 26 ans. Le concours attire à Sion de nombreux jeunes artistes qui joueront certainement pour le Festival à l'avenir. Le Concours Tibor Junior, qui a lieu tous les deux ans, offre aux jeunes musiciens âgés de 14 à 17 ans l'opportunité de de vivre l'expérience compétition professionnel et amical.

The Tibor Varga International Violin Competition takes place every two years and is dedicated to young professional musicians under the age of 26. The competition brings many young artists to Sion who will almost certainly play for the Festival in the future. The Junior Tibor Contest, which occurs every other year, offers an opportunity for young musicians aged between 14-17 years to experience a professional and friendly competition environment.
