The “Cloud” realm is dedicated to the servers and data centers that process and store our collective knowledge.

::As Above:: you have symbols like the crown, or the cage, which represents data ownership and control.

::So Below:: we have symbols like mycelium and seeds, representing growth and collective care of knowledge.

Something is cooking!

We’re still Clusterduck, the meme kids staring at you from the other side of the digital courtyard.
But the times call for something new, so we evolved.

Let’s face it: “touching grass” might not be enough to save our mental sanity, let alone the world.
The internet we once called home has been turned into a hypermilitarised shopping mall. Doomscrolling on social media has replaced surfing the web. The ensh*ttification of – well, basically every aspect of our online lives – advances relentlessly. Big Tech is cosying up with authoritarianism. Our sadness is no coincidence, it is by design.

We must step up our game.

Follow .some – same ducks, new spells.

“OUT OF OFFICE.MP4” For our newest cooperation with adidas, Clusterduck worked together with Xi Design to create a massive mural painting inspired by biophilic design and synesthetic perception! Picking up on modern aesthetics shaping the digital and urban context such as Anti Style, Ignorant Drawing, and Frutiger Aero, Clusterduck shows the experience of a person who, while listening to music on her/his/their computer, visualizes nostalgic, happy, or trippy memories evoked by those sounds, blurring the boundaries between the physical (IRL, short for “In Real Life”) and the digital world (URL, “Uniform Resource Locator”, colloquially known as a web address) in the process. Since our online and offline activities are capable of changing our brains, for the better or worse, Clusterduck likes to remind us that maintaining a balance between the two worlds is crucial for our mental well-being! May y’all get lost in the material body connection again, May y’all find your digital friends on a physical beach, may y’all find IRL what Frutiger Aero has promised us URL!

Only one day left! Tomorrow we will be holding a workshop session at ACUD MACHT NEU with the great people of Disruption Network Lab. There are only a handful of places left, so make sure to register at the Link below!

❗ REGISTRATION ➡ https://lnkd.in/dgSHqHVd

From the event description:

“Drawing inspiration from debates surrounding deep-fake realities, AI-driven propaganda, and the increasing fragmentation of political subcultures, in this workshop Clusterduck aims to utilize the "political compass" meme. This widely popular internet meme, typically employed for humorous or satirical purposes, visually depicts economic and social ideologies on a two-dimensional graph. Originally rooted in a questionnaire format where individuals respond to a series of questions to ascertain their political inclinations, this workshop hosted by Clusterduck will guide participants in employing the meme as a tool to generate collective visions of the future for artivism and politics amid the profound uncertainties of our era.”

We’re thrilled and happy to announce that we have won the Paul Thorel Prize by Fondazione Paul Thorel! 🎉

Right now we are in beautiful Naples. We will be here for a few more weeks, printing and frying memes, every day all day 🍳

Want to know more? Come to Gallerie d'Italia in Naples tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you there!

From the event description:

"Paul Thorel Foundation presents, in collaboration with Gallerie d'Italia, a conversation with Clusterduck, the first of the three winners of the 2023 edition of the Paul Thorel Prize. Clusterduck is a collective of five Italian-German artists born in the 80s who live between Florence, Milan, and Berlin.

The founding members of the collective, who participate as a whole, introduce the group's explorations into the new vernacular culture 2.0 and the digital imageries circulating online, illustrating their work on sharing platforms, tools of appropriation, and collective authorship. The event is also an occasion to recount their one-month residence in the Neapolitan studio of late artist Paul Thorel (1956-2020) for the production of a new original artwork that will be exhibited at Gallerie d’Italia."

We are happy and grateful to collaborate on this beautiful project with Nishant Shah and Yehwan Song!

Clearly, everyone can see that we are in a situation of crisis. And like every year, despite the atmosphere of impending doom, people from all over the world will come to Berlin, to discuss and learn from each other at Transmediale.

During the "Doing things with crises" workshop we will try to help participants to build networks that can continue after the festival, bringing something home, however small it might seem at first glance. Solutions can come bit by bit, nurturing the networks (and our collective imagination) is the first step!

Go meet our duck Tomato tomorrow, Feb 4 2023 h12:00 at Akademie der Kuenste Hanseatenweg / Salon!

Thanks to Nora O'Murchu and Influ Bani !

On the 10th anniversary of the Internet Yami-Ichi, the artist duo Exonemo has put together "A DECADE TO DOWNLOAD", a collective publication made by the many artists and realities that have participated in the famous "internet black market".
We were glad to contribute to the book's stories with MAGIC PIXELS AND DIRTY FAIRY TALES: A (VERY) BRIEF HISTORY OF MEMES.

"The tribes of the Internet were roaming freely in forums, chatrooms, and weird, ramshackle websites. To most outsiders, the Internet seemed like a strange, dangerous place, not really worth their attention if not out of genuine ethnographic curiosity. For those on the inside, it was a time of magic and seemingly endless possibilities." To be continued...

In our next posts, we are going to tell the story of what happened to us in these last years. We were acting in a whirlwind of unbelievable speed and eagerness, and lately we realized that many of the things we were doing have never been published on social media.

So, here we go... Once upon a time, on the 10th anniversary of the Internet Yami-Ichi, the japanese artist duo Exonemo put together "A DECADE TO DOWNLOAD", a collective publication made by the many artists and realities that have participated in the famous "Internet Black Market". We were glad to add our contribution by documenting the six Yami-Ichi that we had the pleasure to attend with our .
