Spotlight On - Michael Kupfer-Radecky 🌟With a voice described as both majestic and deeply expressive, German baritone Michael Kupfer-Radecky is internationally renowned for his commanding portrayals of Wagnerian and dramatic roles.
Michael’s relationship with Bayreuther Festspiele - Bayreuth Festival continues into 2025, where he’ll perform as Gunther (Götterdämmerung), Heerrufer (Lohengrin), and Wolfram (Tannhäuser,). His Bayreuth appearances began with a sensational last-minute debut as Wotan in Die Walküre (2022), followed by Gunther and multiple returns.
His versatility has taken him from the Opéra Bastille in Paris as Hans Sachs in Die Meistersinger to Covent Garden, Teatro alla Scala, Bayerische Staatsoper, and the New National Theatre Tokyo where he sang Pizarro in Fidelio under the direction of Katharina Wagner. Recent seasons have seen him in key roles like Jochanaan (Salome) in Toronto, Wuppertal and Antwerp, and the title role in Wozzeck in Toronto at the Canadian Opera Company.
