We are Team Tumult, a collective of animators, artists and storytellers based in Zurich, Switzerland. Every story needs its own approach. Got a project in mind?

We are Team Tumult, a collective of writers, directors, animators and illustrators based in Zürich. We write and produce visual stories for clients who give us the opportunity to create something unique. Whether it's handdrawn animation, live action, stop-motion, motion graphics or illustration,
our team strives to find the right visual language for each and every project. Each of us has a different view on things, which keeps our work diverse and fresh. In the end we are linked by wanting to create good stuff. And if a project should need heavy lifting, we can rely on our vast network of talented friends with all kinds of backgrounds. Or just the spark of an idea? Short films, animations, adverts, music videos, illustrations, scripts or only a storyboard. We're always on the lookout for new projects and collaborations.

What a hustle & bustle 👩🏼‍💻👨🏽‍💼🧑🏻‍💼👩🏾‍🎓👨🏻‍🏫🧑🏽‍🍳

The Swiss university HSLU Hochschule Luzern has a new campus building in the middle of Lucerne. To celebrate, they commissioned us to create a big illustration, highlighting all new the facilities and amenities that you can encounter there.

Making waves 🌊🌷🌊🌷🌊🌷🌊

As this year’s summer is not slowing down on the heat, we hope you can enjoy some well-earned vacation days to cool yourself down and recharge🤞At least our all-powerful mascot AJ is conjuring the mighty waterfall of hyper-hydration for you 💦☀️🦆

This animation was created in just a few days by our former intern , who stayed with us in June as part of the summer internships, getting an insight into how we work and helping us out on a few commissioned projects 🙌🥰🙏

Who‘s in the driver‘s seat🤔🚙🤖

For the EcoDrive initiative () we developed a 20-second YouTube pre-roll. It pushes back on a common assumption: that driver assistance systems and the eco mode have already taken energy-efficient driving off our hands. They have not. The person behind the wheel remains the single biggest factor, ahead of any technology.

The challenge was the length. A pre-roll gets skipped the moment it can be, so the core message and the practical saving tips had to land in the first seconds and still stick. We distilled the idea down to its essence and gave it a visual language that needs no long intro and works on impact.

The result is a clip in three language versions for German-speaking Switzerland, the French-speaking region and Ticino. Short enough for social media, clear enough to get something across despite the pace.

Enter the „Treeptychon“ 🌲🌲🌲

An experimental shortfilm about dancing trees, what could go wrong? Going into this with a „we‘ll fix it in post“ mentality we learned the hard way, that even this sort of film needs a plan and clear structure.

So now finally, after being stuck in editing/ scheduling hell for almost a year, we can present this piece.

Trees trees trees! 🌳🌴🌲

„Let‘s do something with dancing trees or whatever..!“

Is what was uttered and what we took home from our Retreat into our Anijam week in the office.

Experimenting with different mediums and techniques, we set out to do just that, getting those trees into a dancing mood. Just rolling with it can be fun, but can we get these loose parts together into a coherent cinematic experience? Find out in our next post..!! 😱

Anijam is the time of the year, where we take a week out of our busy work-schedules to have some collaborative fun. Here we’ll share some impressions of our retreat, the Team Tumult creative process and finally, what came out on the other side of it. Stay tuned.
