"Now is the last moment of my life";

This means having such faith that we can say with the utmost conviction: "Even if I were to die at this moment, I would attain Buddhahood".

Of course, it is important to live our lives wholeheartedly, working for kosen-rufu and fulfilling our mission.

We should think with confidence that, whenever we die, even if it's the next moment, we'll have nothing to reproach ourselves for in our faith; we'll know that we've really given all we can and that we're assured of attaining enlightenment.

Of course, it's not a question of being presumptuous, but it's vital to have such pride and conviction in one's faith. It was in this spirit that I listened to and applied President Toda's directives.
