Members of the eleven branches of the Hosking family came together on Saturday to unveil three plaques recognising the military service of Dr Rupert Vivian Hosking, one of only two former servicemen buried in the Cook Islands who fought in the South African War.

Its going to 2 weeks now and the Pukapuka Community of Wollongong and Griffith that were meant to sail home to Pukapuka and Nassau for the Christmas Holidays are still stuck here on Rarotonga. The group consisting of 78 adults, 56 children and 4 infants started arriving to Rarotonga on the 1st week of December. The Pukapuka Rarotonga community held a special welcome ceremony for them last week.
We spoke to the Leader of the Group Yalau Rangiura for an update on their travel situation.

An Introduction Meeting was set up by Tauranga Vananga yesterday afternoon for the Cook Islands Maori Language Commission Te Kopapa Reo Maori Members to meet the new Working Group Te Kumiti Rave Angaanga, tasked to take on some of the work the Kopapa Reo Maori Members have been doing in the past few years in creating new Maori words for English words. The recent Education and Ui Ariki Symposium emphasised the urgency in revitalising our Reo Maori Kuki Airani while we still can. Having new Maori translations for ongoing English words is seen as a priority by the Language Committee.

This morning saw the launch of the Cook Islands Nurses Scope and Standards of Practice, a guiding document for nurses that will come into effect next year.
The event also included the presentation of recognition awards for the Neti Tamarua cohort of Bachelor of Nursing graduates, who have officially become registered nurses. Our news crew was at the ceremony.
