🌎 What does 40 years of climate policy in action look like?
As part of CCAP’s 40th anniversary celebration, we’re opening the archives to highlight the people, partnerships and ideas that have shaped our work over 4 decades.
⏳ Working backwards through the time vortex, let's start with the 2020s.
It’s been a decade defined by both uncertainty and opportunity. From the pandemic and shifting political landscapes to major advances in global climate action, the 2020s have reshaped the international climate agenda. We’ve seen become operationalized, the launch of the Global Methane Pledge at and growing momentum behind the transition away from fossil fuels. Yet despite this progress, the world remains on track to exceed the 1.5°C threshold.
For CCAP, these developments have reinforced a critical lesson: ambitious commitments must be matched by practical implementation. That's why we've focused our work where we believe we can have the greatest impact—helping countries mobilize , reduce emissions and strengthen .
♻️ As methane emerged as one of the fastest and most cost-effective opportunities for near-term climate action, our Recycle Organics program expanded its work across more than 25 countries in the Global South, with the potential to mitigate more than 31 million tons of CO₂e over the next 20 years while diverting over 700,000 tons of organic waste from landfills annually.
📈 With Article 6 moving from negotiation to implementation, we continue supporting countries across Latin America in strengthening carbon markets and leveraging international cooperation to advance climate goals and NDC implementation.
💡 As demand grows for greater transparency and investment in the low-carbon transition, our climate finance work has focused on advancing sustainable finance taxonomies and other tools that help governments, financial institutions and investors identify, mobilize and direct capital toward climate action—particularly in developing countries.
