Food delivery here at my hotel (i didnt want this pizza coz it's unhealthy but it's the only one available and I had no other choice) while starting to recharge all of my devices. Chile uses Type C (two round pins) and Type L (three round pins in a line) outlets, with a standard voltage of 220V and 50Hz frequency; travelers from North America need adapters for both plug shape (C/L) and potentially a voltage converter if their devices aren't dual-voltage (100-240V), as Chilean sockets differ from U.S. Type A/B plugs. I also have Anker which charges my macBook pro laptop. THE MIC MAGAZINE

Deicers, such as salt (sodium chloride), calcium chloride, or CMA, work by lowering the freezing point of water to melt existing ice and prevent new ice from bonding to surfaces like driveways and walkways. They are most effective near freezing temperatures (28–34°F) and are often applied before storms to stop snow from sticking. THE MIC MAGAZINE

Pedro Valdivia was the founder of Santiago, Chile:

Pedro Gutiérrez de Valdivia or Valdiva was a Spanish conquistador and the first Governor of Colonial Chile. After having served with the Spanish army in Italy and Flanders, he was sent to South America in 1535, where he served as a soldier under the Pizarro brothers in Peru, gradually rising in power.

In 1540, Valdivia led an expedition of 150 Spaniards and 1,000 Peruvian Indians into Chile, where he defeated a large force of indigenous warriors and founded Santiago in 1541. He extended Spanish rule south to the Biobío River in 1546, fought again in Peru (1546–1548), and returned to Chile as Royal Governor in 1549. In 1550, he expanded Spanish rule further south into Araucanía, where he founded the city of Concepción and the eponymous city of Valdivia. He was captured and killed by Mapuche Indians during the Arauco War in 1553. THE MIC MAGAZINE

My first glimpse of Plaza de Armas in Central Santiago: Plaza de Armas de Santiago is the historic heart of Santiago, Chile, serving as the city's central square since its founding in 1541, surrounded by key buildings like the Metropolitan Cathedral, Central Post Office, and the National Historical Museum. It's a vibrant public space filled with monuments, street performers, artisans, and chess players, and is the official "Kilometer Zero" from which distances in Chile are measured. THE MIC MAGAZINE
