Since 1997, when I was 14 turning 15, I've been listening to this band, Dark Tranquillity. "Punish My Heaven" was the first song I ever heard from them. I was a 90's teenager in Chile, and at my school, I was the only one listening to melodic death metal back then—on cassettes and CDs.
You have no idea what this band means to me. They were the main reason I learned English; I wanted to understand what their lyrics were saying. 🎸
Funny side story: the only way my evangelical mother would allow me to listen to this music was by lying to her and telling her that Dark Tranquillity was a Christian white metal band, and that's why they had that name—because Jesus made even the deepest darkness tranquil. 😅
Anyway, you guys have no idea what you mean to me—my band for life! Here at the southern end of the world, thousands of miles away from Sweden.

Desde 1997, cuando tenía 14 años, escucho a Dark Tranquillity. "Punish My Heaven" fue el primer tema que escuché. Fui un adolescente de los 90's en Chile, el único weón en mi colegio que escuchaba melodic death metal en cassette y CD.
No tienen idea lo que significa esta banda para mí. Fue el motivo principal por el que aprendí inglés, quería entender qué decían las letras. 🎸
Dato curioso: la única forma de que mi vieja, evangélica, me dejara escuchar esto fue mintiéndole. Le dije que Dark Tranquillity era una banda de white metal cristiano, que se llamaban así porque Jesús hacía tranquila hasta la oscuridad más profunda. 😅
En serio, no saben lo que son para mí. ¡Mi banda de la vida! Acá al sur del mundo, a miles de kilómetros de Suecia.
