Day of Pentecost: PC Molyko Opens Baby Assembly, Dedicates New Members Into CYF.

The Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, Molyko assembly, PC Molyko has inaugurated a new church building in response to membership growth and expansion of the evangelical mission of the church.

Though still under construction, the new church building project named PC Molyko New Layout Prayer Cell opened its doors to faithful believers for the first time on Sunday 24th May 2026 under the leadership of Parish Pastor Rev. Dr. Mrs. Tabi Pascaline.

“The new church assembly is our child. Together we will hold hands to see it grow, because this is not a private or personal property, but it belongs to everyone” The clergywoman said during her sermon.

The church open day featured other activities such as infant and adult baptisms and confirmations, the taking of the Holy Communion and the dedication of 12 new members into the Christian Youth Fellowship (CYF), the youth movement of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, who during their dedication ceremony promised to serve the Lord to the end.

Located at New Layout, behind St Luke Junction, the PC Molyko New New Layout Prayer Cell building project began in 2021 under the leadership of then PC Molyko parish pastor Rev. Fobang Christopher Tah and Congregational chairperson, Eld. Dr. Mrs. Hannah Mbua Etonde. Funded by congregational fundraisings, the project is expected to be made a full-fledged congregation upon completion.

With these calibre of personalities and institutional backings to grace the cultural and business networking event from the 21st to 25th May 2026, it would be a mistake to miss it as a Cameroonian living in the diaspora.

“O Cameroon, Thou Cradle of Our Fathers…” A Dive Into The 54th Anniversary Of Africa In Miniature

The curriculum of every serious country in the world features the history of that country hammered into learners from a young age and Cameroon is no exception. From primary to secondary school and even at university level, learners are taught the country’s history and just like every other nation’s, it is not a walk in the park but it is a history full of imperfections.

The modern history of the country begins in the late 19th century when European powers sought territorial gains across the continent of the Blackman in what became known simply as the Scramble for Africa.

Being a territory rich in natural resources and possessing the other factors that drew Europeans to Africa in the first place, Cameroon was not spared.
In 1884, known simply as Kamerun, the territory became a colony of Germany.

Barely 32 years later, the Great War knocked the young territory out of German hands and it was divided and absorbed into the wet and warm bosom of France and Britain under a mandate of the League of Nations.
France received the larger share, giving the territory what would become its enduring identity as Anglophone and Francophone Cameroon.

While the First World War swapped colonial masters across Africa, the Second World War that followed brought a wave of emancipation for Africans across the continent.

Cameroon, like much of Africa, began demanding independence. Consequently, French Cameroon gained independence in 1960 and Southern Cameroons gained the same the following year by joining its French counterpart to form the Federal Republic of Cameroon.

On 20th May 1972 the entire territory voted in a referendum to dissolve the federal system in favour of a unitary state and since then the country known widely as Africa in miniature has held firmly to that unitary idea.

Statesman and leader of Cameroon since 1982, President Paul Biya has stated on numerous occasions that Cameroon is one and indivisible.

“Do I need to repeat this? CAMEROON IS ONE AND INDIVISIBLE! It shall so remain… Its wealth and strength are derived from the diversity of its people, its cultures and its languages,” Biya said in his traditional end of year address on 31st December 2016.

In early 2017 an armed conflict broke out in the English-speaking regions as part of the Anglophone problem which had its roots in 1961. In that armed conflict also known as the Cameroon Civil War or the Ambazonia war, secessionists rose with the aim of separating the two territories. Yet almost ten years of conflict has not been able to dissolve the unitary foundations of Cameroon.

Today, 20th May 2026, the country celebrates unity and indivisibility under the theme “National Unity: Backbone of our Defence System, Bedrock of Cameroon’s Development.”

Happy national day to all Cameroonians worldwide. 🇨🇲
