The first planning session for the Silicon Mountain Conference took place on Friday at Activ Spaces, with additional participants joining virtually via Google Meet.

The meeting brought together founders, entrepreneurs, ecosystem builders, and other stakeholders from across Silicon Mountain to discuss ideas for this year's conference and explore ways to make the event bigger and more impactful.

Among the key discussions were the conference theme, event activities, competitions, networking opportunities, challenges, games, and the various prizes and recognitions that could be awarded during the conference.

The session was highly interactive and productive, with participants sharing valuable insights and suggestions aimed at strengthening the conference's role in fostering innovation, collaboration, and growth within the ecosystem.

More updates will be shared in the coming weeks, including the official conference theme, event date, activities, and opportunities for participation as preparations for continue.

Last year, Waspito made it to the ABH Top 10 and walked away with over 55 million FCFA in grant funding.

This year, another Cameroonian startup is in the running, & we might just be congratulating them soon.

Buyam, one of the biggest e-commerce platforms in Cameroon and building infrastructure for African businesses, has been shortlisted for the Africa's Business Heroes (ABH) Top 100 Startups 2026 selected from over 24,000 applications across all 54 African countries.

The Top 100 will now advance through video interviews and due diligence to determine the Top 20 semi-finalists, who will pitch live in Nairobi on August 21–22.

From there, the Top 10 finalists compete for a share of a $1.5 million grant pool with the winner taking home $300,000.

If showed what Cameroon could do on that stage last year, is arriving with the same intention.

This is a very big deal for Cameroon

Bloomberg, one of the most powerful financial media platforms on the planet just dropped its 2026 list of the Top 25 African Startups to Watch. Out of over 2,000 startups from across the continent, two Cameroonian startups made the cut.

Nkwa App, a fintech helping everyday Cameroonians build savings habits through mobile money. ( Akwo Ashangndowah , Alice Ndeh)

WASPITO a healthtech platform connecting patients to certified doctors instantly via their phones.( Jean Lobe Lobe )

Both built right here in Cameroon.
