THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PEDAGOGICAL TOOLS IN THE EDUCATIONAL SECTOR:

The Minister of Secondary Education, Professor Pauline Nalova Lyonga, has introduced pedagogical tools to be implemented in the upcoming 2024/2025 academic year. This announcement was made during a solemn opening ceremony at Government Technical High School Nsam, presided over by Minister Nalova Lyonga, under the theme "The Impact of New Pedagogical Tools on the Process of Digitalization at the Ministry of Secondary Education."

During the ceremony, the Minister of Secondary Education emphasized the need for a Competency-Based Approach (CBA) curriculum. However, she identified three major challenges: student and teacher indiscipline, drug consumption, and violence, which have threatened the educational system.

The Ministry of Secondary Education calls on the education community to ensure the effective commencement of teaching and learning of Cinematographic Art in the 2024/2025 academic year in selected schools: BHS, Molyko Buea, Lycee General Leclerc (Yaounde), and GBHS Ebolowa.

Education stakeholders have been holding workshops to better understand these innovations and meet the expectations set by the Ministry when the new school year begins.

Monkeypox Epidemic Reaches Alarming Levels: Public Health Emergency Declared.

The Minister of Public Health, Dr. Manaouda Malachie, has issued a public alert as the monkeypox virus reaches its peak, with confirmed cases reported outside of Africa for the first time. This prompted the World Health Organization to declare monkeypox a global health emergency for the second time.

Cameroonians, particularly in border regions where the epidemic is active, are urged to remain vigilant. Monkeypox is caused by the monkeypox virus and symptoms include:

- Rash
- Fatigue
- Sore throat
- Throbbing headache
- Swelling of the joints
- Fever

The virus spreads through close contact with an infected animal or person.

Prevention is key! To protect yourself from mpox, maintain a safe distance from individuals with a similar rash, and avoid touching items that may have been used by an infected person or animal, such as blankets, bedding, and clothing. Keep healthy people separate from those who have mpox to prevent transmission. When caring for someone with mpox, wear gloves, personal protective clothing, and equipment, whether in a healthcare facility or at home, to reduce your risk of getting infected and help prevent its spread.

Mile 17 to Muea Market Road: A Nightmare for Drivers and Passengers

The condition of the road from Mile 17 to Muea Market towards Mount Camel is a major cause for concern. Potholes and standing water have made the road a nightmare for drivers, causing taxi drivers to refuse to use it and leaving passengers stranded. Traders are also severely affected, forced to trek long distances to transport their goods, with journeys taking up to two hours due to traffic congestion.

Vehicle owners fear damage to their vehicles, further discouraging drivers from using the road. This creates a vicious cycle, leaving passengers and traders to suffer.

UNICEF Urges Increased Humanitarian Support for 1.9 Million Children in Cameroon

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has raised concerns over the dire situation of 1.9 million children in Cameroon, who are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. This statement was made by Nadine Perrault, UNICEF's Representative in Cameroon, on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day 2024, which was celebrated under the theme "Acting for Humanity."

Perrault emphasized the critical need for increased support for humanitarian efforts, particularly for children caught in the midst of ongoing crises. She highlighted the challenging conditions under which aid workers in Cameroon continue to operate as they strive to provide essential support to these vulnerable children.

The call for action comes as UNICEF and other humanitarian organizations face significant challenges in delivering aid in conflict-affected regions, where the needs of children are growing by the day.

Bikutsi Star Mani Bella Declares Intentions to Quit Secular Music!

Renowned Cameroonian Bikutsi singer, Veronique Mani Bella, has made a surprising declaration: she's leaving secular music to dedicate her life to God. In a recent Facebook post, the artist revealed her desire to transform her image, music, and performances to glorify God, abandoning her previous style and erotic dancing.

Mani Bella, known for hits like "Pala Pala" and "Pilatus" (a tribute to her late father), has left fans and followers wondering if she'll stick to her words.

Will this mark the end of an era for Bikutsi's sensual queen, or a new beginning for a gospel star?

URGENT: Healthcare Crisis in Kedjon Ketinguh - St. Patrick's Catholic Health Center Forced to Close

Due to escalating separatist violence in Kedjon Ketinguh, Small Babanki in Ndop, St. Patrick's Catholic Health Center has been compelled to shut down. The hospital has faced continuous kidnapping and harassment, including the abduction of a Reverend sister on August 11, who was later released.

Fearing for their lives, doctors and staff have relocated, leaving the community without access to essential medical services. The closure of this major healthcare facility exposes villagers to potential harm.

We urge the Government to take immediate action to restore healthcare services in Kedjon Ketinguh and ensure the safety of persons in the area.
