We have a unique way of working with our clients which draws upon our experience of filmmaking, social work and visual anthropology.

Glocal Films aims to communicate intercultural experiences, to refashion conventional views of marginal subjects and to facilitate the democratic and communal use of technology and filmic expression. Next to our independent documentaries, we work closely with local authorities, government agencies, schools and charities around the globe. Our work serves as a medium for research, implementation, do

Our multi-lingual team has developed film projects, which celebrate local culture and knowledge as well as triggering analysis to necessitate social change. Our films aim to improve living conditions by reaching out to and engaging communities into shaping services and systems. We believe in participatory filmmaking to be an effective tool to engage people around the world in exploring their lives and the world surrounding them. We aim to empower people, by giving them a voice through film as a vehicle of communication. Our approach is inclusive, democratic and learner-oriented. All participants are equally involved in the making of their own film. We provide the framework, the participants produce the content.

UmWelten ist in Kamerun angekommen. Gestern am ersten Workshoptag haben die Schüler*innen gelernt wie man die Filmausrüstung benutzt. Im Laufe der Woche werden sie gemeinsam zwei Filme zum Thema Umweltschutz drehen.

Ihr Video ist Teil von 'EinBlick durchs Schlüsselloch' ein interkultureller Video-Austausch mit PASCH Schülerinnen und Schülern aus Vietnam, Indonesien, Frankreich und Deutschland.

Ab nächstem Sonntag wandert das Projekt weiter in die USA und nach Deutschland.

Schüler*innen von Berufsschulen in Unna + Walsrode in Deutschland und Incheon und Hakun in Korea tauschen sich über selbst gedrehte Filme miteinander aus.

Nach unserer Filmvorführung und dank des interkulturelle Austausches, wissen wir nun auch, dass man in Korea bereits mit der Geburt formell das erste Lebensjahr erreicht hat. Faszinierend betrachten wir die Szene, in der die koreanischen Schüler bereits vor Betreten der Schulkantine vor einen Monitor treten, um die Körpertemperatur messen zu lassen – über 36,5 Grad kein Zutritt – Infektionsschutz!

Das die deutschen Schüler auf Koreanisch ‚Hallo‘ formulieren konnten (안녕하십니까 (an-nyeong-ha-shim-ni-ka) hat uns auch überrascht! Die Koreanischen Schüler*innen überzeugten sowieso mit ihren recht guten Deutschkenntnissen.

In shock and disbelieve are we witnessing the extension of war in Ukraine. Over the last few years we have worked numerous times with the Goethe-Institut Ukraine and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in various parts of the country. We now worry about all the young people we worked with, all the teachers, staff at the Goethe-Institut and GIZ as well as the internally displaced people from Donetsk and Luhansk that made participatory videos with us. Our hearts go out to you!
