Breaking News: Ambazonia Separatist Commander “General Jagaband” Killed in Bafut

An Ambazonian separatist commander known as “General Jagaband” has reportedly been killed in Bafut, Mezam Division, in Cameroon’s North West Region.

The incident occurred on Saturday, March 14, after residents of Akosia and Mforya reported hearing heavy gunfire early in the morning.

The exact circumstances of his death remain unclear, with uncertainty over whether the separatist leader was killed during a clash with government forces or in a targeted ambush.

An amateur video circulating on social media shows Jagaband’s lifeless body lying on a carpet inside what appears to be a burnt structure in a bushy area. In the video, a voice speaking in Pidgin says, “Na Jag that d**g sleep,” meaning “Jag is dead.”

Sources say Jagaband had been operating in Mforya, Mile Two, and Ndamukong, where he led several armed activities in the area.

As usual, citizens would be expecting authorities in Bafut to issue an official statement confirming the operation or the identity of the deceased. But given how Cameroonian authorities operate, this is unlikely to happen.
