Thousands of mourners from far and near joined the family of the late Board Chairman of the Cameroon Development Corporation, CDC, Hope Sona Ebai, to accord him a befitting burial.
Hope Sona Ebai, who died on 4 March 2026, in Douala, was buried at his private residence in Mokube street, Buea Road, Kumba.
Fondly called "the people's Chairman" by his peers, Hope Ebai was buried on Saturday 25 April, in a private ceremony witnessed only by his siblings and progeny.
The Paramount ruler of the Bafaw and King of Kumba, Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko, read out the condolence message from the CPDM to the surviving wife and family.
The CPDM Central Committee reckoned Hope Sona Ebai as a devoted, loyal and committed servant of the nation, who was also a steadfast, committed, and disciplined militant of the ruling party.
In his homily taken from the book of John 16:33, the Presbytery Secretary of PCC Kumba, Rev Albert Njasomo Dikoke, who led the college of clergymen and women, described the fallen statesman as a patriot who served his country with diligence and honour, and who always found time to serve the Lord despite his busy work schedules.
He enjoined mourners to live exemplary lives and avoid vices that will lead them to hell.
The General Manager of CDC, Franklin Ngoni Njie, said that 'the people's chairman', as Hope Sona Ebai was fondly called at the corporation, brought his rich experience and expertise to bear, especially at a time when the agro-industry was suffering and at the verge of collapse.
He stated that the Chairman was always available to the General Management and a source of inspiration to CDC workers and the general public.
For Terence Ebai, son of the deceased, his late father was a true product of K-town, who blossomed into greatness. He said his father was a highly skilled professional who gave his all to the world of Cocoa and Coffee.
For Jacob Wah, an in-law, Hope Sona Ebai was a great mixer and an inspiration.
