Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola's journey reminds aspiring entrepreneurs that successful businesses are not always built by creating something entirely new. Sometimes, they emerge from identifying a challenge, developing a practical solution, and remaining committed to creating value for others.
Her story is an inspiration to young entrepreneurs everywhere: with vision, persistence, and a desire to solve real problems, it is possible to build a business that changes lives while creating lasting impact.
Bilikiss is proof that some of the most impactful businesses are born from everyday challenges. As the founder of Wecyclers, she transformed a growing environmental problem into an opportunity that creates value for communities, empowers families, and generates employment.
Through Wecyclers, households in Lagos can exchange recyclable waste for reward points that can be redeemed for essential items such as food, cleaning products, and mobile airtime. By combining innovation, technology, and social impact, Bilikiss created a business model that motivates people in underserved communities to see waste not as a problem, but as a resource.
Working in partnership with the Lagos Waste Management Authority, Wecyclers has achieved remarkable results. By 2015, the company had collected more than 500 tons of recyclable waste, created jobs for over 80 people, and positively impacted more than 60,000 beneficiaries.
