The highly anticipated 2025 Forum on Future of World Academic Libraries was grandly held in Nanjing from July 8 to 9. Co-hosted by CNKI (Tongfang Knowledge Network Digital Technology Co., Ltd.), Tsinghua University Library, The University of Hong Kong Library, and the International Association of University Libraries (IATUL), with Nanjing University and Southeast University as co-organizers, the forum centered on the theme "The Pioneering and Leading Role of Libraries in the Digital and Intelligent Transformation of Universities" and successfully built a diverse dialogue platform in the field of academic libraries.
The 2025 WAL attracted over 700 on-site participants, including library directors, experts, and scholars from 18 countries and regions such as Kate Robinson (President, International Association of University Libraries (IATUL); University Librarian, University of Bath), Tina Yang (Associate Librarian, The University of Hong Kong), Vicki McDonald (President, International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions), Paul Ayris (Pro-Vice Provost (LCCOS), University College London), Consuella Askew (Vice President for University Libraries and University Librarian, Rutgers University), Lubushko Eketerina (Russian Center for Scientific Information (RCNI) ) and Sarawoot Watechagit (Director, Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center). It once again demonstrated its extensive influence as a core exchange platform for exploring the future development of global academic libraries.
