Xinjiang in Focus | Green Power from the Grasslands of Nilka
In Nilka County, part of the Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China, rows of photovoltaic panels stretch across the landscape like waves of blue, while sheep graze peacefully beneath them. This is the 4-gigawatt integrated wind and solar power project developed by CGDG. By carefully planning the height and layout of the solar panels, the project has created an innovative model of "photovoltaic-animal husbandry integration," where clean energy production and traditional livestock farming coexist in harmony. This synergy allows both green energy and pastoral livelihoods to flourish side by side. As clean electricity continues to flow from the grasslands, local herders are seeing steady increases in income. At the same time, more and more young people are returning to their hometowns to take part in the region's growing green economy. This is the sustainable future of Xinjiang.
