Eight light-minutes is the distance between the Sun and the Earth. Founded in 2016 by a small group of editors and hardcore sci-fi lovers, like the sunlight nurturing life on earth, we aim to make science fiction the light of everyday life.

Join us this evening for “Emerging Chinese Science Fiction Writers: An International Outlook,” held at PAGEONE Bookstore (Beijing Fang) and online via Zoom—one of the most exciting sci-fi events of the season.

Expect lively panel discussions featuring top sci-fi authors, translators, and international publishers, both in-person and online.

Jointly organized by the Chinese Literature Readers Club of the China Writers Association, the event brings together seven of the most promising new voices in Chinese sci-fi—each ready to share their stories, ideas, and visions of the future:

The 2025 Science Fiction Picks�From Editors, Translators, Reviewers, and Bloggers

Curated by my colleague aleocg, this annual project invites science fiction editors from various publishing houses, multilingual SF translators, reviewers, and bloggers across the broader speculative fiction community to take part.

While looking back on the year’s new science fiction releases and showcasing each participant’s personal selections, we also apply a weighted ranking system to their choices, ultimately producing a final annual list.
