Ten years ago, I arrived in Guangzhou for work, naive and uncertain.Back then, I lived in Xiaobei, a place steeped in Muslim life.
Ten years later, I returned to Guangzhou. Not with clients, not with work, just a journey and reflections.Walking again on the streets of my memory, that sense of familiarity washed over me instantly. The streets had changed, but the images hidden deep in my memory remained vivid.Especially that big tree from my memory, still standing there. Ten years have passed, and it has stood there, silently witnessing the countless comings and goings of people in this city, and also witnessing the efforts and sweat we once poured into making a living.I visited the Guangzhou Xianxian Mosque again. This place carries the long history and memories of Guangzhou‘s Muslims. Traditionally, it is associated with the historical legends of the early introduction of Islam to Guangzhou, and the tomb of Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas.Entering the ancient tomb, I felt an indescribable shock. I prayed, and I repented. Here, Muslims from home and abroad come daily to visit, pray, and pay their respects.
