The 2025 in Literature is awarded to the Hungarian author László Krasznahorkai. Among the seven works of his published or soon to be published in China, six were translated by his Chinese friend, writer and translator Yu Zemin.
They first met in early spring 1993 at a mutual friend's home. In May 1998, Yu accompanied László Krasznahorkai on a trip to China, tracing the footsteps of the Chinese poet Li Bai, which deepened their friendship.
In Yu’s view, László Krasznahorkai is “a writer with unwavering belief in the power of literature.” He also describes László Krasznahorkai as a steady, kind, and gentle person; “you can see his character through his photos.”
