underconsumption final boss: haven’t bought any new japanese skincare or make up since living in tokyo for 4 years 🙈

i know all the tourists can’t wait to come try DONKI make up but i just love western make up and i rly count down the days i can visit again!! (next stop 🤭)

CONFESSION.. after living in japan for 4 years i fear i may never become fluent in japanese and i think it’s ok!!! i’ve come to accept it 😅

ofc i still want to improve but at my level, i would get more ROI if i put that time and effort into other skills like even english, public speaking, etc lol

let me know your thoughts on this or if you have any recommendations!

what if I followed everyone else’s path instead? 🥲

reflecting on where i am rn in life, it’s pretty different to how little-me thought it would turn out- for the better!

we’re so lucky to be part of a generation where we are the first women in our bloodline to do whatever we want! to have an education, to travel, to earn our own money and be our own bosses! we have a long way to go but that’s something i don’t want to take for granted.

i’ve been lucky to grow up with my mum and grandma both paving the way for me. subconsciously, I saw proof that it was possible for women to have a career or start a business, which I didn’t realise is not everyone’s ’normal’. it encouraged me to chase my dreams even though they aren’t “socially acceptable” 🫣

so i hope with my content, it can encourage you to live with more intention. be brave enough to try something new! (i also need this reminder myself 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️)

I get it though, planning for the “perfect” Japan trip can feel like a whole job but every vacation needs a day where you get to relax and have someone else lead the way!! (shoutout my local expert for the day 🫶🏻)

4 years living in Japan and there’s still so many new areas I havent discovered yet 😅 It goes to show you can’t really ask “just any local” but one whose job it is to go out and explore and take tourists around, really knows their spots and can explain, translate and guide you all the way so you can relax and take it all in!
