Geely Unveils the Radar King Kong EM-P: A Plug-In Hybrid Pickup Ready to Take On the Ford Ranger PHEV!

Chinese automaker Geely is making waves with its bold new plug-in hybrid pickup — the Radar King Kong EM-P, known internationally as the Riddara RD6 EM-P. This PHEV powerhouse offers a total range of up to 1,068 km, including 100 km of pure electric driving, thanks to a 19.09 kWh LFP battery and a 60-liter fuel tank.

Under the hood, it combines a 1.5L turbocharged engine with two electric motors, delivering a total output of 349 hp and a massive 914 Nm of torque. The result? 0–100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds, with a payload capacity of one ton.

Design-wise, it keeps the bold modern lines of its fully electric sibling, stretching up to 5.5 meters in the long-wheelbase version. Inside, the tech continues with a 14.6-inch central touchscreen and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster.

On the tech front, the King Kong EM-P supports V2L charging (3.3 kW) and even V2V (up to 21 kW) — meaning it can power or even recharge another vehicle.

Available in China starting at 139,800 yuan (approx. €17,000), this rugged, connected, off-road-ready hybrid truck shows Geely’s clear ambition to go global with a high-tech beast.

Is the Government Abandoning Hydrogen Cars for Private Consumers?

French Senator Jacques Grosperrin (Les Républicains) is raising concerns over what he calls a “silent withdrawal” by the government from supporting hydrogen-powered vehicles for private use.

The newly released National Hydrogen Strategy II (April 16) focuses heavily on decarbonizing heavy industry and professional mobility, but includes no measures for private consumers — nor any plans to expand the public hydrogen refueling infrastructure.

While the government has supported over 150 hydrogen-related projects since 2020, including light commercial vehicles expected around 2025, the private automotive segment appears entirely overlooked.

The senator warns of a potential loss of technological sovereignty, as other major powers continue to accelerate their investments in hydrogen mobility.

He calls on the French state for clarity:
Will hydrogen remain limited to professional use — or will France finally commit to a real strategy for hydrogen-powered passenger cars?

Toyota is making a bold move: the new Aygo X will go fully hybrid by late 2025, powered by a 116 hp 1.5L hybrid engine borrowed from the Yaris. Goodbye to the small 1.0L petrol engine — and hello to more dynamic performance, with just 86 g/km of CO₂, 0–100 km/h in under 10 seconds, and sharper handling thanks to a lower center of gravity.

Sharp new design, slimmer headlights, 17” or 18” alloy wheels, and two-tone paint finishes inspired by spices (like cinnamon and jasmine) give the car a bold and muscular urban crossover look.

The Grand Return of the Chrysler 300?

The iconic American brand could soon be reborn with a new sedan inspired by the futuristic Halcyon concept!

Unveiled last year, this sleek four-door prototype hinted at Chrysler’s design future. Now, CEO Chris Feuell has confirmed that a production model based on the Halcyon may replace the legendary Chrysler 300, which ended production in 2023.

If the project moves forward, it could share the fully electric platform of the Dodge Charger EV, offering up to 670 hp and a maximum range of 510 km depending on the version.

And there’s more: a Halcyon-based SUV is reportedly in development, alongside a full revamp of the Chrysler Pacifica expected by 2026.

Estimated launch? Not before 2027, but official news could arrive as early as late 2025!
