Pakistanis are leaving Pakistan in large numbers to look for better opportunities abroad. 🇵🇰🌍

But there is another side to this story: brain drain and the loss of human capital.

In this video, I discuss some facts about Pakistan’s overseas migration and show province-wise data on workers registered for overseas employment.

The numbers give us an interesting picture of which parts of Pakistan contribute most to overseas employment.

Is migration a problem, an opportunity, or both?

Watch the complete video and let me know your opinion in the comments.

📅 Key Governments and Their Fates

1988–1990: Benazir Bhutto (First Term)

· Ended: Dismissed by President Ghulam Ishaq Khan in August 1990 on corruption charges and failure to control ethnic conflict .

1990–1993: Nawaz Sharif (First Term)

· Ended: Dismissed by President Ghulam Ishaq Khan in April 1993. A political crisis followed, leading both the President and Sharif to resign in July 1993 .

1993–1996: Benazir Bhutto (Second Term)

· Ended: Dismissed by President Farooq Leghari in November 1996, again on corruption charges .

1997–1999: Nawaz Sharif (Second Term)

· Ended: Overthrown in a military coup led by General Pervez Musharraf on October 12, 1999 .

2008–2013: Yousuf Raza Gilani / Raja Pervaiz Ashraf

· Note: This is the closest case. While Gilani was disqualified by the Supreme Court in 2012, the PPP government itself completed its full five-year parliamentary term in March 2013. It was the first time in Pakistan's history a civilian government completed its term and handed over to another elected government.

2013–2017: Nawaz Sharif (Third Term)

· Ended: Disqualified by the Supreme Court in July 2017 over corruption allegations from the Panama Papers, roughly one year before the scheduled election .

2018–2022: Imran Khan

· Ended: Removed via a vote of no-confidence in April 2022, becoming the first PM in Pakistan's history to be removed this way .

💡 The Pattern

The recurring theme is that no individual has ever finished a term. The most common causes have been dismissals by the President (using discretionary powers) and military coups, with the 2022 no-confidence vote marking a new, constitutional method of removal.

If you want details on a specific era, like the 1990s or the Zia years, just let me know.

Here are some important things you should know before applying!

Planning to apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC)? 🇨🇳🎓

CSC can provide international students with an opportunity to pursue higher education in China, but getting the application right requires more than simply submitting a form.
Before applying, make sure you understand:

✅ Your eligibility and academic requirements
✅ The university and program you're applying for
✅ Your research/study plan
✅ Required supporting documents
✅ The CSC online application process
✅ University-specific requirements
✅ Professor and research-area compatibility
✅ Interview preparation, where applicable

For university-based CSC applications, applicants may need to select the appropriate program category and enter the university's agency number in the CSC system, so always check the instructions of your target university carefully.

Getting a scholarship is not just about having good grades or sending applications to as many universities as possible. The research fit matters too.

Before applying, consider these important points:

✅ Clearly understand your own research area.
✅ Check whether the professor’s research matches your interests.
✅ Be genuinely willing to do research—not just interested in getting the scholarship.
✅ Prepare properly for the interview and understand your proposed research.
✅ During the interview, be confident, respectful, and friendly. Professors are also looking for students they can communicate and work with.

And remember: sometimes a better opportunity requires you to step outside your comfort zone. Leaving your home and moving to another country can be difficult, but it can also open new doors. 🌏

These tips are particularly relevant for students considering scholarships in China, but the same approach can be useful when applying anywhere in the world.

Don't just look for a scholarship. Look for the right research opportunity. 🎓

🚨 Thinking about studying in China? Don't blindly trust an admission consultant! 🇨🇳🎓

There are many genuine consultants who help students, but unfortunately, there are also people who take advantage of students who don't know how the Chinese university admission process works.

My advice is simple:

First, try to understand and apply to universities by yourself.

🔹 Search for universities through their official websites
🔹 Check the actual admission requirements
🔹 Verify tuition fees and scholarship information
🔹 Contact the university if you have doubts
🔹 Compare different universities and offers
🔹 Understand the complete application process
🔹 And only after doing your own research, decide whether you really need a consultant.

The more you know yourself, the harder it becomes for someone to mislead or defraud you.

Don't pay someone simply because they say, "I can get you admission." Verify first.

One year in China 🇨🇳 — and somehow, I miss Pakistan even more. 🇵🇰❤️

It's been one year since I came to China, and living here has given me the opportunity to see things that I had mostly experienced only through pictures, videos, or social media.

The infrastructure, public spaces, transportation, cleanliness, organization, and pace of development naturally make you compare things with your own country.

And yes, sometimes the comparison is funny. Sometimes it's frustrating. And sometimes it makes you genuinely wonder:

If they can do it, why can't we?

But this isn't a post about hating Pakistan or glorifying China.

China has its own problems, just as Pakistan has its strengths. But loving your country shouldn't mean ignoring its weaknesses.

We can miss our streets, our food, our people, our language, our families—and at the same time honestly question why our country hasn't developed in the way we hoped it would.

After one year in China, I have learned one thing:

Distance doesn't make you love your country less. Sometimes, it makes you see it more clearly.

Still missing Pakistan. 🇵🇰❤️
