In Argentina, there's a restaurant called Restobar Dickens, with a sign saying:
"We ask all our customers with all our hearts not to be upset by the number of stray dogs that may be in the restaurant.
We are a pet friendly place and we give water, food and lots of love to these sweet angels. I'm sorry if it bothers you, but they're not doing anything wrong, they're just looking for food or shelter.

"We did this sweet lady's lawn today. She is 93, the neighbors told us that she been out their trying to cut her own lawn 😳. Have no fear, raising men lawn care is going to make sure her lawn is done every two weeks ! Making a difference in our community!"

AN OLD WOMAN WALKED UP AND TIED HER OLD MULE TO THE HITCHING POST.
AS SHE STOOD THERE, BRUSHING SOME OF THE DUST FROM HER FACE AND CLOTHES, A YOUNG GUNSLINGER STEPPED OUT OF THE SALOON WITH A GUN IN ONE HAND AND A BOTTLE OF WHISKEY IN THE OTHER. THE YOUNG GUNSLINGER LOOKED AT THE OLD WOMAN AND LAUGHED, "HEY OLD WOMAN, HAVE YOU EVER DANCED?"
THE OLD WOMAN LOOKED UP AT THE GUNSLINGER AND SAID, "NO,... I NEVER DID DANCE... NEVER REALLY WANTED TO."
A CROWD HAD GATHERED AS THE GUNSLINGER GRINNED AND SAID "WELL, YOU OLD BAG, YOU'RE GONNA DANCE NOW," AND STARTED SHOOTING AT THE OLD WOMAN'S FEET.
THE OLD WOMAN PROSPECTOR -- NOT WANTING TO GET HER TOE BLOWN OFF --STARTED HOPPING AROUND. EVERYBODY WAS LAUGHING. WHEN HIS LAST BULLET HAD BEEN FIRED, THE YOUNG GUNSLINGER, STILL LAUGHING, HOLSTERED HIS GUN AND TURNED AROUND TO GO BACK INTO THE SALOON.
THE OLD WOMAN TURNED TO HER PACK MULE, PULLED OUT A DOUBLE-BARRELED SHOTGUN, AND COCKED BOTH HAMMERS.THE LOUD CLICKS CARRIED CLEARLY THROUGH THE DESERT AIR, AND THE CROWD STOPPED LAUGHING IMMEDIATELY.
THE YOUNG GUNSLINGER HEARD THE SOUNDS, TOO, AND HE TURNED AROUND VERY SLOWLY. THE SILENCE WAS ALMOST DEAFENING. THE CROWD WATCHED AS THE YOUNG GUNMAN STARED AT THE OLD WOMAN AND THE LARGE GAPING HOLES OF THOSE TWIN BARRELS.
THE BARRELS OF THE SHOTGUN NEVER WAVERED IN THE OLD WOMAN'S HANDS, AS SHE QUIETLY SAID, "SON, HAVE YOU EVER KISSED A MULE'S ASS?"
THE GUNSLINGER SWALLOWED HARD AND SAID, "NO M'AM... BUT I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO.
THERE ARE FIVE LESSONS HERE FOR ALL OF US:
1 - Never be arrogant.
2 - Don't waste ammunition.
3 - Whiskey makes you think you're smarter than you are.
4 - Always make sure you know who has the power.
5 - Don't mess with old women; they didn't get old by being stupid.

"When my youngest daughter arrived in foster care, she was five years old. We were getting close to our first Halloween together when I realized that every time I brought up the impending holiday, she and her nine-year-old sister would freeze in terror. When I eventually asked the girls if they had ever celebrated Halloween before moving in with us, I was shocked by what they said. They alternated in telling me stories of how they had previously received candy for Halloween, only to have it taken away and consumed in front of them by an adult who forced them to watch. The adult cruelly gave the girls a physical taste of what they were missing out on that Halloween night when they started to cry. The brown paper wrappers that had been containing the chocolate peanut butter cups were delivered to them, and they were made to consume them.

I realized that I had to be careful when spending our first Halloween with them in light of this tale. My suspicions were validated when I saw the girls, dressed in their gorgeous costumes, walking from door to home, stealthily counting the pieces of candy they were given. Upon arriving home, I gave the girls instructions to count the candy pieces they placed in the two plastic bags I had provided, along with a black marker. After they had completed counting, I assisted them in labeling their bags with the exact number of candies inside, and I assisted them in labeling their bags again after each candy bite. The girls begged to recount the pieces before bed for weeks after Halloween, even after we told them we would not consume their candy. One lollipops at a time, I would gain their trust by sitting with them and counting their candies night after night.

That was in the autumn of 2014. Although they have been adopted and are doing well in our house, their early memories of the Halloween they were made to consume empty candy wrappers reappear every October. During my post-dinner cleanup in our kitchen last night, I caught my youngest daughter rummaging around the pantry. She came up to me with a bag of candy she had picked up at a recent Halloween event as I was cleaning our countertops. It was obvious that she was giving the bag to me as a gift because she had wrapped it in paper. Her lovely handwriting from third grade was written with these words as soon as I took the piece of paper out of the bag:

"Mom, I want to give you my sweets so you can taste how much I love you."

Give that some time to register. This child—who had once been made to eat empty candy wrappers—selected bits of her Halloween candy from her bag that she thought I would like and offered them to me.

"I find myself sitting in the parking lot at Kroger trying to compose myself. You see, while inside getting groceries, I came upon a little girl prancing down the isle making a crazy noise. I turned around to see this young lady wearing massive boots compared to her tiny body. At first I just giggled and continued shopping. I ended up in the check out lane behind her and her mother. As good southerners do, we struck up conversation. I told the little girl that I liked her boots. She had a massive grin on her face and began to speak. She let me know that those boots belonged to her Daddy. Today would have been his birthday, but he was killed last year in 'Afghan Stan.' To feel better about today, she was allowed to wear his boots. As her mom started to cry, so did I, as did the cashier.
Apparently, the gentleman behind me heard the story and gave the little girl a cupcake out of the dozen he was buying. He told the little girl to always eat a cupcake for her dad's birthday. He told her that her dad was a hero and that she should be proud to be his daughter. Please remember why we are able to celebrate America. Let's stop to think about those who protect the freedom that we often take for granted!"

Angel is a Bengali cat who travels around the world with her family. Due to the fact that two animals died during a flight – one because of the cold and the other because his cage was hit by other luggage – Angel has started a campaign for all animals to travel in the cabin...
The slogan is: "we are not luggage, we are living beings". Due to her large number of followers, this 15-pound cat hopes to make a change..
For now, a good way to help her is to spread her campaign and her slogan ...WE ARE NOT LUGGAGE, WE ARE LIVING BEINGS!!

I have a six year old son who is joyful and sweet and so loving. He has some challenges left over from a very early delivery. Something simple like a photo with Santa has been anything but simple. I thought it might be different this year. He has seen enough photos and videos of Santa to know who we're talking about when we mention Santa Claus. When we asked if he wanted to meet Santa he said yes. We talked about it for several days leading up to the 'big day'. He even surprised us with an answer when we asked him what he wanted to ask Santa for - a Pete the Cat Super Cool Collection he had seen at the bookstore. A church in our town hosts an evening each year for children with special needs to meet Santa. They put a great amount of time and effort into this event to make it the best possible experience for all of these children.

We were super hopeful...we had a child who wanted to meet Santa and almost perfect circumstances for that to happen, but we still didn't get that sweet, sitting in Santa's lap photo. What we got was pretty perfect though. So thankful to Santa for meeting James exactly where he was comfortable...on the floor. Santa didn't hesitate for a second. He joined him right there and did everything he could to make it a magical moment for my sweet boy. I love the magic this time of year brings, and I especially love experiencing it through the eyes of my child.

A Brazilian cyclist found a small dog abandoned and in very poor condition during a bike ride. 🥰
Without hesitation, he rescued him, gave him water and food, and carried him with him in his backpack.
Today, that furry friend that no one wanted is his inseparable adventure companion.
His story has moved thousands of people on social media, demonstrating that a simple act of kindness can change the life of a living being. 🐶✨

My fiancé doesn't appreciate my DOG at all and that's why I'm making this appeal.
He is purebred, he has shared my life for 2 years. He loves toys even if he doesn't have all the parenting skills. Short hair but in need of grooming. Especially the upper body parts, he likes to shave them off. He often barks at night and has a habit of waking me up very early the next morning. He is a very picky eater, preferring only branded, expensive food.
Unfortunately, he doesn't make you happy when you get home. He's not very cuddly when you're a bit down. He doesn't usually bite, but he is usually short-tempered and growls easily.
Here it is... If you know someone who wants to care about my selfish, twisted and inhuman fiancé of 40 years, come and take him with you!!! My dog and I want to find a new home for him!!!"

"This is John. John was my Uber driver on the way to the airport yesterday. He asked why I was traveling, I said for work. He asked me if I was about 28. I said 27. John’s daughter passed away unexpectedly at 29. He couldn’t resuscitate her. He tried to breathe life into his daughter's lifeless body, but he found her far too late. John was holding their son when his daddy passed away.
“I wish I could’ve done more. Why couldn’t I bring her back?”
He said, “I’m so sorry for all of this. I haven’t met anyone so kind-hearted, and non-judgemental. I felt like I had someone willing to listen.”
He patted my forearm and said, “Please never let the world make you hard. Keep smiling that smile. Keep being kind to strangers because you’ve shown me the kindness a stranger can give. You never know what hardships people have endured, especially behind a smiling face like I’ve masked myself behind for so long. Thank you, sweet girl.”
Be a kind human. Always. Show compassion, have a listening ear, ask someone about their day, smile at strangers, say hi in the grocery store, show small acts of kindness throughout your life, start up a conversation with your Uber driver. It may mean more to them and help them more than you could ever imagine. ❤️"

As a university student, money can be tight and so sometimes I skip meals. Another student in my class is a mom, who is older and has less financial struggle. So she has taken it upon herself to pack an extra lunch when making her kids some, and bringing it for me.
She is one of the nicest people I know, and I am so grateful for her kindness and compassion. Just a wholesome person, and thought she deserved a shout out here!
