HMC Extends Independence Day Support to Affected Communities in Jorquelleh District Three

Gbarmue, Jorquelleh District Three – July 23, 2025 — In celebration of Liberia’s 178th Independence Day, the Huiren Mining Company (HMC) in Gbarmue has extended support to residents of its affected communities.
According to the company’s Human Resource Officer, Mr. Lawrence Danuwilie Sumo , the gesture was part of the company’s effort to commemorate the national holiday with residents, particularly those in dire need within its operational areas.
Mr. Sumo emphasized that under its new administration, HMC remains committed to fulfilling its social corporate responsibilities to communities impacted by its operations.
The items donated included twenty-five (25) bags of 25kg rice, one hundred eighty United States dollars (US$180), and assorted cooking utensils.
He encouraged local leaders to ensure that the items reach those most in need and noted that the company plans to do even more once full-scale operations commence.
The donation ceremony took place on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, in Gbarmue.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Peter Y. Phinuyen, the company’s Community Liaison Officer, commended HMC for its foresight and generosity.
“We want to thank the HR and the company for these gifts. Many companies have operated in this Jorpolu Clan but never thought of doing something like this for our people.”, Mr. Phinuyen stated
Mr. Phinuyen also encouraged community members to continue collaborating with the company in the interest of development and mutual benefit.
Also speaking during the occasion, the Commissioner of Jorquelleh District Three, Madam Fatu Binnay, along with other local leaders, expressed gratitude to the company for the Independence Day donations and pledged to ensure the items are used for their intended purpose.
They further committed to working with HMC to create a harmonious and productive working environment that would benefit both the company and the local communities.
