7 de septiembre pero en 1971 nace Dolores O’Riordan, cantante, compositora de la banda The Cranberries. Murió inesperadamente el 15 de enero de 2018 mientras estaba en Londres, Inglaterra, para una sesión de grabación.

Kraftwerk “Autobahn” excerpt, 1974.

Utilizing this first edition of the ARP Odyssey, the synth sounds on “Autobahn” were meant to reflect a trip by emulating sounds of a vehicle. The album and title track were inspired by the group’s joy of driving on Germany’s autobahns.

Other equipment used to record the album included a Moog Minimoog, a customized Farfisa Rhythm Unit 10 & Vox Percussion King, Farfisa Professional Piano, Schulte Compact Phasing A and Mutron Biphase.

The the fourth studio album by Kraftwerk mainly consists of the 22-minute long title track and was recorded at the group’s home studio Kling Klang and at Conny Plank’s studio in a farmhouse outside Cologne. It completed the group’s transition from the experimental krautrock style of their earlier work to an electronic pop sound consisting mostly of synthesizers and drum machines.

“Dance With The Night” was the first single from the band’s debut album, Fever To Tell. In their homeland of the USA, the single barely got noticed, but in the UK it became an overnight sensation charting at #16. Back in 2003, many critics determined that a rock band led by a female singer was a tough sell since the charts were dominated by R&B and teen pop bands. However, their appeal soon won over everyone and they established an audience on both sides of the Atlantic. Singer Karen O recorded her trademark feline yelps and banshee wails twice on this and the other Fever to Tell tracks. She told NME: “We did all the tracks twice once with me totally wasted and then again with me sober. Then used whatever worked best.”
