Director and producer Danilo Beckovic founded Mali Budo in 2013 and the company quickly established itself as one of the most successful production houses in Serbia and the region. Mali Budo produced two regional super-hits and critics' favorites LITTLE BUDDHO, 2014 and THE SAMURAI IN AUTUMN, 2016 (Cairo IFF, Cottbus FF, Best Serbian film of 2017). Short film THE LITTLE ONE premiered in the official competition selection of the Bucheon IFFF 2019, followed by screenings in Fantasia Montreal, Sitges, Trieste, Cottbus, Lund, Newport Beach FF, Screamfest LA, and more than 30 others. The company also produced a critically acclaimed feature documentary TSERNIANSKI (Beldocs 2015) about Milos Tsernianski, one of the most famous Serbian poets of the 20th century. In co-production with South Korean LEWIS PICTURES (B**g Joon-ho’s OKJA & THE HOST) we are developing a feature film TRIALS OF CHUL (EAVE TTB, supported by Creative Europe - MEDIA) as well as a feature documentary ONE DYING STAR (Ex Oriente, supported by Creative Europe - MEDIA and Re-Act). Mali Budo serves as a minority co-producer on Robert Hloz’s sci-fi thriller RESTORE POINT (Czechia) and Irida Zonga’s short animation MAN WANTED (Greece).
