Withdrawal of the Miss Universe Botswana Title from Miss Lilian Andries
Gaborone, December 24th, 2025
We regret to inform the public that, after a thorough review of actions related to Miss Lilian Andries handling of the Miss Universe Botswana title and her working relationship with our organization, and in alignment with our core principles, we have decided to immediately withdraw the title of Miss Universe Botswana from Miss Andries.
For transparency purposes, our decision was based on the following:
1. Repeated Unauthorized Absences: Failure to attend multiple high-profile official engagements, including sponsor dinners and other events, diplomatic meetings, and a royal courtesy visit.
2. Unauthorized Publicity & Brand Interference: Permitting and/or engaging in the creation and distribution of promotional materials without organizational approval, violating exclusivity and intellectual property clauses.
3. External Team: In support of Point 2 above, there exists or existed an external or unauthorized team, including family members, friends, or associates, executing MUBO work in conflict with MUBO policies and interests. This was against authority and organizational policy.
4. Undermining Organizational Authority: Improperly engaging external third parties, including government officials and politicians, to inappropriately interfere in and pressure the organizationโs internal decision-making processes.
Miss Andries has also ignored organizational instructions, including direct requests and instructions from the National Director. She has collaborated with and promoted fashion designers who are unauthorized or blacklisted by our organization.
5. Direct Contravention of Directives: Posting unauthorized content on social media using the Miss Universe Botswana brand after explicit instructions not to do so.
6. Contact with our Sponsors and Partners: Dealing with our sponsors directly and without our consent and spreading disinformation and misinformation.
The decision was made after careful consideration and reinforces our commitment to uphold the highest standards of personal and professional conduct. It is intended to protect the integrity of the organization and the opportunities it provides to Women nationwide.
The Miss Universe Botswana pageant remains a platform for Batswana Women to share their stories and drive impact personally, professionally, and philanthropically.All our partners, sponsors, and relevant Government departments have been accordingly notified.
Miss Andries has been officially written to regarding this decision.
