We are very sad to announce that our dear friend, and one of our hosts, Aleksandra, has passed away at only 31 years old. She was a beautiful soul who made a great contribution to our radio, and she will be greatly missed. This weekend, we will be sharing with you all of her shows here at radio.d59b.

RADIO.D59B / A TRIBUTE TO THE ROY AYERS w / George Cvetkovski

During every conversation among collectors and music lovers, we often throw names of artists and bands, their releases (rare or not), collaborations, their impact on the music, who sampled them, etc. … When the name Roy Ayers comes up, everybody pauses because he is the jazz-funk royalty that always requires special attention. He was on a league of his own. Incomparable to anybody else. Unfortunately, we lost him few days ago. Another legend has passed on the torch and is going to music heaven.

Like to many others, he is a huge reason why I love funk and jazz-funk. I started listening to him in the E80s with his boogie-funk period…and then I went back in time collecting every piece of records he has released as solo artist, with his band Ubiquity or as collaborators and producer on many albums from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s… I am glad that I saw him live in 2005…amazing concert.

His legacy will continue…his music will continue to be played, sampled, and to serve as inspiration for generations to come. RIP Mr. Ayers…you will be missed...forever!

FUNK FOUNDATIONS / George Cvetkovski

Tommy Stewart is an important underground figure for the funk music. Born in 1939…he was drawn to music at early age thanks to his mother. In 1964 he played with Fred Wesley and members of the 55th Army band. He wrote and composed for TV and even played with Blue Note recording artist Duke Pearson. In 1973 he arranged and composed a musical score called “The Burning of Atlanta” and later on, worked as arranger, producer, performer and writer for the likes of Clarence Carter, Candi Staton, Johnny Taylor, Major Lance, Eddie Kendricks, Luther Ingram, Millie Jackson, Flip Wilson, Roy Gaines, Tamiko Jones and many others. His self titled LP and sophomore follow up as Stevo, has Stewart often labeled as an innovator of disco-funk….but on my books he is a funk master…enjoy the show

Tribute to Tom Moulton…the originator of the remix and the 12-inch single vinyl format…the creator of the breakdown
section or “Disco Break”. Frequently seen on many M70s albums with the phrase “A Tom Moulton Mix” indicating that
Tom Moulton had mixed, produced or engineered the record. His innovative work was honored at the 2004 Dance Music
Hall of Fame ceremony in NYC. In the line of this show, I will play his versatility from soul to funk and deep disco-funk. Enjoy it!

Founded on the first day of 2018 by two life-long friends and little sister who accompanies them from an early age and who is the most important part of the radio/s sensibility.

Based in Belgrade and Berlin we stream 24/7 different music genres with a quality always being the top priority.
