The diversity of music on this Caribbean island is unparalleled in the world, nourished by the confrontation of the most diverse influences from Africa, Europe, North and South America. Even the streets are full of sounds: hypnotic rhythms of the clave and conga drums, songs addressed to the orishas, the humanized deities, popular carnival street songs. The island lives music.
The documentary "La Clave - The Secret of Cuban Music" brings together some of Cuba's most important contemporary musicians to capture the richness of its musical history, such as Bobby Carcassés, Alain Pérez, the drummer Yissy García and the saxophonist and pianist César López. They will give a rousing insight into their skills, merging tradition and topicality in their performances. Together with music historian Dr. Olavo Alén, they reflect on the genres and backgrounds of their compositions, from their African origins to rumba and bolero, son and salsa to Latin jazz.
Filmed by a Cuban film crew, "La Clave - The Secret of Cuban Music" is a passionate documentary about the multi-layered and fascinating musical soul of a country in upheaval.

(ES) En ¨El misterio de la clave¨ también mostramos parte del talento de los más jóvenes artistas cubanos. En varias ocasiones visitamos la Escuela Nacional de Arte como parte del proceso de rodaje y dimos fe de los excelentes músicos que se están formando.
(EN) In ¨El misterio de la clave¨ we also showcased some of the talent of Cuba's youngest artists. On several occasions we visited the Escuela Nacional de Arte as part of the filming process and witnessed the excellent musicians being trained.

A la edad de 85 años Bobby Carcassés, continúa siendo un icono del jazz afrocubano. (DE) Kürzlich teilten Bobby Carcasses, eine der Figuren aus „The Mystery of Key“ und ihr Regisseur, Kurt Hartel, in einem Jazz-Download im Café Botanika. Im Alter von 85 Jahren ist Bobby Carcassés weiterhin eine Ikone des afrokubanischen Jazz. (EN) Recently Bobby Carcasses, one of the characters of "The Mystery of the Key" and its director, Kurt Hartel, shared a jazz download at the Botanika cafe. At the age of 85, Bobby Carcassés continues to be an icon of Afro-Cuban jazz.
