Entanglement Selected for Playa Film Festival 2025 and Africon Short Film Competition in Atlanta
Following the worldwide success of Cachot, which won more than 30 awards and earned selections in over 40 film festivals across the globe, Curaçaoan filmmaker Samueldavid Baromeo continues to make waves on the international stage. His latest short film, Entanglement, has been officially selected for the Playa Film Festival 2025 in October and the Africon Short Film Competition in Atlanta, marking another milestone for Caribbean cinema.
As producer, director, and scriptwriter, Baromeo brings forward a daring vision that blends psychological intensity with cinematic innovation. Entanglement showcases his ability to push the boundaries of storytelling while reflecting deeply human struggles, presented with a bold and distinctive creative approach.
This achievement comes in collaboration with Refael Kariodimedjo, under the banner of A Willemstad Production, a studio that has been steadily building a reputation for authentic, culturally rooted stories with global resonance. Together, Baromeo and Kariodimedjo are redefining how Caribbean stories are told, placing Curaçao firmly on the international film map.
At the same time, Baromeo’s award-winning short Cachot continues its journey, now screening in Florida at the I Will Tell International Film Festival, further expanding its international reach and recognition.
With Entanglement stepping onto major international platforms, and Cachot continuing to resonate with audiences around the world, Baromeo and his team demonstrate once again their commitment to crafting films that are both artistically daring and emotionally universal—cementing their position as leading voices of a new era in Caribbean and global cinema.
Special thanks to the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB), Hugor Holding, Aqualectra, Smart Wheels and Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds for their invaluable support in making these achievements possible.
