Do you bring any local currency of the places you port when you cruise? Or check the exchange rates in comparison to your currency?

Seeing other countries money is so cool and part of our pre-cruise prep.

Fun fact….When they were counting out my sterling pounds yesterday. There was a young Queen Elizabeth on the 20. Just like on our old $1 Canadian bill and when I was in Belize in January, on their $10 bill.

To Drink Package or NOT to Drink Package….that is always the question.

Being born and raised a Northwestern Ontarian, the allotted 15 adult beverages in a 24 hr period with the Princess Plus Package is more a “Challenge Accepted” than a Limit. IYKYK

That being said… ……and with years of experience enjoying the plus package………

For me, It’s always worth it.

Here’s my calculations.

Daily Cost for Princess Plus. $64.99 USD (we purchase at least 5 days before cruise.). It goes up if purchased on board.

Daily expenses (give or take)

1-2 specialty coffees from International cafe to mix with Baileys. $10 USD
2-4 bottles of water. (Gotta stay hydrated for the Adult beverage Challenge). $10 USD
2 -fountain pop. $5
20% added

Wifi $25 a day if for full cruise @50% off $12.50 USD

Crew Appreciation- $18 USD

Sub total before casual meals and adult beverages

$60.50 USD

Add casual meals x4 a sailing = $60
Add adult beverages….😎$$$

Definitely worth it if you use what is in the package.

Side Note:

On 7 day sailing, found it hard to get in all 4 casual meals.

On sailings over 14-28 days, found it hard to step up to the Challenge at the end. lol

On sailings over 30 days…..Ouch!!!!
(Now divide up and do b2b bookings and get for part of cruise, pay for wifi,ca on portion not packaged)

Happy August. Yippee it’s a Cruise month. 16 more sleeps.

Time to start the gather. Pull out my Hanke Luggage ( I love my luggage. It’s the best). I use the 26” open top. For this Ole Gal it is manageable when lifting (into trains, luggage carts etc) and rolls so easy.

We fly out for a pre cruise land adventure on August 17th to London, England. Fingers crossed the Westjet strike situation has been resolved.

We are flying into Gatswick Airport which is in Crawley, England. (This is about 1 hour ish train ride to PADDINGTON central in London)

Flight time from Winnipeg is 3 1/2 hrs to Halifax, NS then only 6ish hours to London. Sweet!!

We like to take trains, buses and ferries when travelling across the pond. The transportation systems we have used are great and it’s all part of the travel adventure.

✅ Hotel booked in London close to Buckingham Palace. One day to get in a few sites.
✅ Train to Cardiff, Wales
✅ Hotel booked in Cardiff by central Station for 3 nights.
✅ Meeting up with friend Christine who will take us on the “ local” tours and must sees. Can’t wait to see yah!!!
✅Train from Cardiff to Southampton to hop on the Sky Princess for a 21 day Scandinavian, Iceland and British Isles b2b cruise.

So got the email that we needed to go pick the embarkation arrival window to board the Sky Princess August 22.

Went into Princess App and it was right there on the home page. Straight forward.

Viewed times and picked when “thought” would be arriving at Southampton Port.

We did not have to do this on Mediterranean cruise we took in May. So will be interesting to see how this embarkation process will work and if we actually make it to the Port during the half hour allotted time slot.

Who has done this new embarkation thing? Thumbs up?
Good, Bad, the Ugly?

If we get there at the end of the half hour time slot, will the next time slot already be in the que?

Guess we will see.

When booked on a Cruise across the pond, you need to get there first.

Hoping Westjet Flight attendants get the settlement they deserve and hoping it’s before we fly out for our 21 day b2b Scandinavian/Iceland/British Isles Princess Cruise.

Back up plan in the works. Getting lots of practice with flight disruption lately. On it. lol.

It’s a feels like 37C (99ishF) kinda day here.

Finding my long underwear and toques to pack for my cruise and looking at where the best places to see the Northern lights in Iceland are.

I’m Thinking 3 months between cruises is too long. I mean it’s great to get rid of some of the food and beverage bulge and get some rest, but it’s just too long a wait. 😎

It is finally summer weather here in Canada. So enjoying the lakes and sunshine. 37C 2moro with humidex feels like 45C. Whew, HOT.

Thoughts are wandering to the next cruise adventure. Time to start the countdown. Fly out to London, England in 37 more sleeps. It will be here fast.

A few land days in London and Cardiff, Wales then embark on the beautiful Sky Princess, at Southampton port on August 22 for a 21 day b2b adventure through Norway, Denmark, England, we get to kiss the Blarney Stone in Cork, Ireland, 4 beautiful ports in Iceland, 2 Scottish Isles, and Bruge, Belgium.

Iceland is a Dream Cruise. Mountains,waterfalls,thermal spas, whales,puffins and more.

So excited.

The Catch by Rudi - Review. Sun Princess. May, 2026

Ate there numerous times on 21 day cruise. Every time Sea and Shore for the main. 6oz Filet mignon, 4oz lobster tail, asparagus/baked potatoe. Beauty.

Starters tried
Seafaring Stew- a meal in its own and a must try. Delish.
Ole prawns, Calamari. Yum

Dessert- Rudi’s artistic face to face. Chocolate lovers dream.
