«Get used to my dating life, Harrison. You’re my brother now.»He sets the screwdriver down and slowly stands, a lazy smirk pulling at his mouth. Three slow strides close the distance. I back up until my spine hits the wall. He traps me, sliding his warm palm straight under the hem of my shirt to grip my bare waist.
«Say it again,»he murmurs, crowding me into the drywall. «Look me in the eyes and say it.» I open my mouth, but the word chokes in my throat. I can’t. His smirk deepens. He leans down, his lips brushing my ear.
«I am not your fu***ng brother, Marie,» he whispers.
«Am I?» I swallow, eyes dropping to his mouth.
«No…»
*** She spent ten years trying to forget him. Dean Harrison was her childhood best friend. The boy next door. The safe place she had. Until her father’s funeral, when he looked at Marie and whispered: “It’s my fault. It’s all my fault.” He never explained what he meant. Marie left Millhaven soon after—and never looked back. Until now. Dean is no longer the boy she remembers. He’s older, broader, and wrapped in leather and ink. But one thing hasn’t changed: He still looks at her like she’s the center of the universe. There’s just one problem. Their parents are getting married. Which means the love of her life is about to become her stepbrother.
