A newly released, sharper photograph provides a clearer view of the crash site of the Russian military Antonov An-22 that went down in the Ivanovo Region on December 9, 2025.

The image highlights the mid-air breakup of the heavy military transport aircraft before it crashed near the Ovsdskoy Reservoir. The accident claimed the lives of all eight people on board.

The Antonov An-22 is one of the largest turboprop aircraft ever built and has long served in Russian military transport operations. Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash as authorities work to determine the cause of the fatal accident.
