Breaking: Tinubu Declares Security Emergency Nationwide, Orders 20,000 New Police Recruits
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on wednesday declared a nationwide security emergency and ordered the nigerian police and armed forces to recruit additional personnel to tackle rising insecurity.
The president directed the police to recruit 20,000 new officers, bringing the total planned intake to 50,000, and authorised the use of nysc camps as temporary training facilities. he also ordered the deployment of trained forest guards to flush out t+rrorists and b+ndits.
Tinubu commended security agencies for rescuing 24 schoolgirls in kebbi and 38 worshippers in kwara, and praised soldiers who have died in operations, including brigadier-general musa uba. he urged the national assembly to review laws to enable state police and called on religious institutions and local authorities to improve security measures.
He highlighted the livestock ministry initiative, advocating the end of open grazing, surrender of illegal weapons, and adoption of ranching to prevent farmer-herder clashes. tinubu stressed national unity, urged citizens to cooperate with security agencies, and reassured that the government remains committed to safeguarding nigerians.
