Eger / Cheb - lovely place nearest borderline with Germany. There was an area called Egerland (named after Eger, original German/Latin name for present Cheb) . Egerland took some towns and villages from Czech side and German side of Border (Oberpfalz and Hochfranken and Karlsbad region). This town and area used to belong to Germany and then given in pledge to the Czech Krown / Bohemian country. So until today you can feel it the German and Jewish ghost here and Czech people living here. This place is very specific that majority of the people living here have not tight relationship with this place cos most of them came to here after 2WW and since that times this place who use to be very famous and rich place is only the periphery. But very nice and lovely periphery, pretty sad and quite lonely (except lots of shopping centre and cheesy markets) . You have to come in there. For Weekend it is nice place with nearest famous and very beautiful and tourist frequented places: Franzensbad / Frantiskovy Lazne, Marienbad/ Marianske Lazne, Karlsbad /Karlovy Vary. On the other side of the borderline is lovely town Waldsassen with an amazing and well known Basilika, cultural city Bayreuth, Town Marktredwitz with an amazing Egerland Kulturhaus - amazing museum where you can taste the original athmosphere of Eger and Egerland, cute spa Sybillenbad, and many others great places! Don´t hesistate and go to the place which J. Goethe so much loved!
