A little nudge towards the YouTube channel today feels necessary; Maintaining the energy to keep on going with making and sharing videos on The Owlripper YouTube channel against the colossal wall of the algorithm is immensely difficult. I keep on pausing, giving up, then trying again (got SO many more videos I could post!).
1300+ subscribers is far more than I could have initially imagined, but after 8 years and 665 videos(!) and LOTS of promotions of all links and channel, some videos/albums still struggle to get to 100 views, even 50 sometimes! Absolutely soul-destroying... and it becomes even more frustrating and confusing, when 1 every so often gets a good run at 500+/1000+ views. Even harder to figure out then what I am doing wrong... especially given the amount of time watching/liking/subscribing/commenting on other's channels also.
Some of the older ones were pretty badly laid out and cringy, I know, but improvements have been made, and yet it very rarely makes much of a difference. In recent months I am in progress with the process of updating text, descriptions, tags of older videos too. It's all part of the infinite learning curves; and some videos have new life and watching breathed into them, so it seems like a steadily worthwhile thing to do when energies, time and focus time allows, but also that site generally seems to be an intensely large mountain range covered in spikes and pterodactyls that can't be conquered(!).
Anyway, please come join in if you like...videos, albums, compilations, recorded and live music with riffs and sounds (yes, very specific!) - Owlripper, The Owl, Morbid Beauty, other projects of mine, all Owlripper artists, compilations, some shaky live videos from a few gigs I've played or attended (if only I had the time to sort through the thousands more I have on harddrives!).
Sorry for the rant, the ramble, 'there are bigger things you could be bothered about', (and I am, trust me), but the spark to comment on it, and the putting aside of insecurities about posting about anything in a conversational manner has happened for the briefest of windows (I will probably run back behind the door after this in anxious delirium for a while!).

Also, a fitting video #666 is already made... so at least there will be one more. We'll see what happens after that.
