Czech has 7 grammatical cases...
😱 Wait, what?!
Don’t panic – we’ve got a simple breakdown to help you out! 👇

Each case (pád) answers a different question and shows the role of a word in a sentence. Here's a quick guide:

1️⃣ Nominative (nominativ) – Who? What?
➡️ The base form. Used for the subject of the sentence.
💬 "Pes spí." – The dog is sleeping.

2️⃣ Genitive (genitiv) – Whose? Of what?
➡️ Shows possession or movement away from something.
💬 "Bez cukru." – Without sugar.

3️⃣ Dative (dativ) – To whom? For whom?
➡️ Used for giving, showing, or telling.
💬 "Dám to kamarádovi." – I’ll give it to a friend.

4️⃣ Accusative (akuzativ) – Whom? What?
➡️ The direct object of the action.
💬 "Vidím auto." – I see a car.

5️⃣ Vocative (vokativ) – Calling someone!
➡️ Used when you’re talking to someone directly.
💬 "Petře!" – Peter!

6️⃣ Locative (lokativ) – Where?
➡️ Used only with prepositions to show static location.
💬 "O městě." – About the city.

7️⃣ Instrumental (instrumentál) – With what? With whom?
➡️ Shows the tool or means by which something is done.
💬 "Píšu perem." – I write with a pen.

💡Tip: Don’t try to memorize everything at once. Focus on one case at a time and practice in context. You’ve got this! 💪

💬 Czech money slang explained!

Czechs love to use slang when they talk about money – it sounds more fun, more local, and definitely less formal.
Here’s a breakdown with real-life examples 🇨🇿👇

👉 1 Kč = kačka
"Nemám ani kačku."
= I don’t have a single crown.

👉 5 Kč = bůra
"Máš bůra na kafe?"
= Do you have 5 crowns for coffee?

👉 10 Kč = pětka
"Dal mi jen pětku místo desítky!"
= He gave me a five instead of a ten!

👉 100 Kč = kilo
"To tričko stálo dvě kila."
= That T-shirt cost 200 CZK.

👉 1 000 Kč = litr
"Za opravu auta chtěli tři litry."
= They wanted 3,000 CZK for the car repair.

👉 1 000 000 Kč = meloun / mega
"Vyhrál dva melouny v loterii!"
= He won two million crowns in the lottery!

🧠 Pretty cool, right? These words are super common in everyday Czech — and knowing them will make you sound more natural and confident.

💧 Vodník vs. Podvodník — Two Czech words that sound similar, but trust us... you don’t want to confuse them! 😅

🧙‍♂️ Vodník is a water goblin — a mythical creature from Czech folklore who lives in ponds or rivers, often with a green face and algae in his hair. He’s not always evil, but don’t trust him with your soul... he might keep it in a jar! 🫙🌊

🕵️‍♂️ Podvodník, on the other hand, is a fraudster or con artist. The word literally comes from “pod-voda” = under water, but not in a magical way! Think of it like someone who works “under the surface” — someone shady, sneaky, and dishonest. 🕳️👀

⚠️ So next time someone says “To je podvodník!” — don’t go looking for a goblin. They're warning you about a scammer!

🌟 Ven x Venku – Do you know the difference? 🌟

👉 Ven = "I’m going outside." (diraction 🚶)
👉 Venku = "I’m outside." (location 🌳)

For example:

Jdu ven = I’m heading outside.
Jsem venku = I’m already outside.
✅ Easy, right? But what about doma x domů? 🤔 Do you know the difference?
