The Festival of Diverse Arts in Aleksandrów Łódzki is an event that has been proving for over two decades that culture has the power to unite people. :)
This year, the two-day program will further emphasize the diversity of artistic forms and provide a platform for discussing important topics related to openness, tolerance, ecology, and environmental protection.
Of course, many people are eagerly awaiting the performance of the evening's star, who this year will be Justyna Steczkowska. A multi-talented artist – vocalist, violinist, composer, and songwriter. She is one of the few Polish vocalists with a four-octave vocal range. Thanks to her incredible talent, she has gained immense recognition in the music industry, and each of her concerts is an extraordinary musical spectacle. We will be able to participate in this musical feast on Sunday next week.
However, this year's event begins on Saturday, September 20th. The "Pure Nature" Festival and the Eco Academy invite you to the city park for a screening of the film "Maya the Bee: The Honey Games" (7:30 p.m.). This second installment in the adventures of the world's most famous bee shows her struggles in inter-meadow sporting games, where precious honey reserves for the winter are at stake. This film is suitable for both young and old viewers, combining entertainment with a subtle message about cooperation and courage. Before the film, there will be an open lecture entitled "The Role of Bees in Maintaining Biodiversity." You can't miss it if you want to learn many interesting facts about bees—for example, how they communicate with each other or what they have to do with ancient Egypt. And even earlier, at 3:00 p.m. at the Public Library. Jan Machulski in Aleksandrów Łódzki will host a stop-motion animation workshop led by Sergiusz Wasilewski – a London-based cinematographer, director, film producer, VR creator, and interactive and VR exhibition designer. Registration is required for the workshops, which will begin on Monday, September 15th, at the library. Registration is required by phone at (42) 276 40 18.
And what awaits us on Sunday, September 21st? Our city center will be bustling with artistic life. Together with representatives of the music world, masters of crafts and handicrafts, and representatives of various art forms, we will create a space full of great fun, exchange of experiences, and creative inspiration. We will have three must-see locations. The first one is, of course, the main stage, where the performance schedule is as follows:
- 3:00 PM - 3:45 PM The Lucyan Group
- 3:45 PM - 4:05 PM The Aleksandrowianie Band
- 4:05 PM - 4:45 PM "Mature Beauty" Fashion Show
- 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM Gaja
- 6:10 PM - 6:30 PM Paweł Szymański
- 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM Folk Collective
- 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM Justyna Steczkowska.
And throughout the afternoon, numerous workshops prepared by our institutions – the Aleksandrów Cultural Center and the Youth Cultural Center – will be taking place in the city park. You'll be able to try your hand at remote-controlled cars and family DIY, among other things.
The youngest will also have a chance to try their hand at sewing.
Children will have the opportunity to learn about the seamstress' profession, discover the secrets of hand sewing, and try their hand with a real needle and thread. They will make beautiful, colorful pillows to take home.
And what fashion-wise, do we have for adults? We invite them (and not only them) to a meet-and-greet and workshop "In the Rhythm of Slow Fashion" with Monika Szymor – a Łódź native and graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts and the University of Łódź. Szymor is a fashion designer and founder of the clothing brand SheMore, which has been promoting the idea of slow fashion for years. She publishes on sustainable development and responsible consumer choices. She supports women in shaping their own image and style. She will share all of this during a meet-and-greet, which will take place at 3:00 PM in the Public Library reading room (Plac Kościuszki 12). Admission is free. However, registration is required for the designer's slow fashion workshops, which begin at 6:00 PM. Registration is required for the workshops, which begin on Monday, September 15th in the library. Please register by phone at (42) 276 40 18.
Continuing along our "festival map," you'll also find the library garden. There, you'll find the " of Diversity" stage, where the program is as follows:
- 2:15 PM - 3:00 PM "Around the World" concert performed by soloists from the MDK Song Studio and TS Lutnia
- 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM "The Adventures of a Teddy Bear" performance
- 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM Open Panel Discussion for the Sound of Diversity project
And why did we call this stage Sound of Diversity ? Representatives from 12 European countries, with whom Aleksandrów Łódzki (the only city in Poland) is collaborating on the Sound of Diversity project, will also be joining us during the event. "Citizens in Dialogue: Navigating EU Policy through Art" - this is the title of the visit of our our international guests' visit to the 21st Festival of Diverse Arts in Aleksandrów Łódzki. Our event in Aleksandrów Łódzki juxtaposes various art forms and simultaneously demonstrates that culture, broadly defined, can be at the heart of civic engagement. Therefore, using the example of the Festival of Diversity Arts, project participants will analyze how artistic practices can question, interpret, and humanize European Union policy, making it more accessible and relevant to the lives of citizens. Art is not just a form of expression—it is a language of participation. Through visual arts, performance, storytelling, and interactive installations, the program will examine how creativity can open new avenues of dialogue on important social issues. Speaking of important social issues, the charity edition of the Festival of Diverse Arts is also a must. This time, by sampling delicious treats at the Social Welfare Center cafe, you'll be able to support a public fundraiser to help a family affected by a house fire in the village of Zgniłe Błoto. Rural Women's Associations will also be serving delicious dishes. Additionally, entertainers will be meeting you in the park. They've prepared various shows and will ensure you'll always have a smile on your face. Aleksandrów Łódzki invites everyone – residents and visitors from the region – for two days full of unforgettable experiences that demonstrate that beauty truly lies in diversity.
