LDY OSC closes off our Endless Illusion mix series, which will be hosted on the .ltd (https://soundcloud.com/lterecords) platform going forward.

Music producer, DJ, technician, and overall renaissance LDY, Alyssa Barrera Auvinen’s artist name was born from her love of all things synth. An early liking to music brought her to the dancefloors of Mexico, where she began DJing as an adolescent before going on to study music and sound engineering in New York City. In her music production, Alyssa plays with different instruments and unexpected vocal styles to bring her dark fantasies to life. She recently contributed a track to the new Prague-based label LTE (and the new home for our mix series) with the wind-tunnel, electro-infused ‘Suave Duro’. She spoke with Jonas about racial bias in the media, DJing dangerous parties as a teenager in Mexico, sound therapy, the music scene in Vienna, and exploring the worlds of codes, electronics, frequencies, and oscillators.

🏂 Mix 44: Chloe Lula 🛷
Our first mix of 2022 opens with multi-talented journalist, producer, and DJ Chloé Lula. After over a decade contributing to the electronic music scene as a curator, DJ, and label-head, Chloé took on producing in 2019 after a month-long residency with Drew McDowall from Coil. Her debut EP ‘Errant Bodies’ released on Berlin-based label [aufnahme + wiedergabe] last year is a collage of heavy-hitting EBM, industrial, and techno electronica - raw, gritty, and dancefloor oriented, a sonic sentiment she translates into her DJing, her monthly residency ‘No Exit’ on Refuge Worldwide, and her mix for Endless Illusion. In addition to her work as a musician, Chloé is passionate about gender justice, LGBTQ+ and human rights, migration and mutual aid, as well as their intersection with music, culture, and nightlife. You can find her writing on Refuge Worldwide, a radio station that amplifies these issues (and much more) and a number of major international publications. She spoke with Jonáš about inequalities in the music industry, new horizons for Resident Advisor, the art of DJing, and her studio setup and upcoming music.

🩸Endless Illusion Mix 43 - LOFN🩸

Our next mix comes from the Czech Republic’s very own LOFN. Longtime friends Anna Coranić and Aitcher Clark recently made their debut under this moniker on VEYL Records with their brutal and uncompromising first EP Post-Apo Romance. The release beautifully demonstrates the duo's borderless sound, weaving together distorted post-industrial electronics with serene ambient landscapes and powerful vocals, taking you on an emotive journey through disparate feelings of desolation and tranquility. The two have rich and extensive roots in Prague’s electronic music scene, contributing to its revival both through bringing avante-garde artists to the city and their own music production. LOFN’s dynamic Endless Illusion mix fits in seamlessly with their sound, bringing elements of industrial, techno, and dance to the foreground. Endless Illusion Mix 42 - Interstellar Funk

We’re pleased to welcome reputed musician, selector, and tireless seeker of underground music, Interstellar Funk. A key figure in the Dutch scene, he’s joined forces with well-known initiatives Rush Hour, Dekmantel, and Red Light Radio. He now runs his own record label, Artificial Dance, which has quickly gained momentum both thanks to his dedication to unearthing old gems and to releasing forward-thinking contemporary dance music. No stranger to production himself, Olf lives up to his moniker through his own distinct productions, in which he lets his passion for analogue gear and futuristic sonic journeys come to life. We look forward to seeing what the future has in store for this bold label and artist, as well as to his anticipated forthcoming debut LP.

Claudio and Davide have been building their discography over the last year with releases on labels such as their own Marguerite Records and Warsaw-based Syntetyk. Musically, the duo lies somewhere on the border between dark synth-wave and EBM, but their second label, Tocca Il Futuro, showcases their affinity for the eclectic. You can get a taste of their musical selection on our Endless Illusion mix as well as their regular Rinse FM and LYL Radio residencies.

☘️ Endless Illusion Mix 40 - Avsluta 🔮

Segment 40 of the series hails from the Czech meadows and groves. This beautiful mix from our friend and London-based Czech artist Avsluta glows from within, evoking the light, colour, and warmth that’s become a trademark of her sound. Her musical output is shaped by an Eastern philosophy, taking her listeners on a meditative, atmospheric, and deeply reflective journey. In her collaborative audiovisual work, Avsluta blends vivid field recordings with colourful video collages, immersing the viewer in expansive melodies and landscapes reminiscent of the natural world. Her passion for ambient-tinted music is visible in her show Introspective Electronics on Netil radio, as well as her recent release on the well-established Dutch label Knekelhuis. Jonáš Verespěj had a discussion with her about making music for architecture, her instruments of choice, and her favourite new releases.

🚬 Endless Illusion Mix #39 - Marie Pravda 🚬

We didn't have to go too far for the June guest mix, as it was delivered by Prague's Marie Pravda. This young DJ has become an integral part of local lineups over the last few years and has appeared on several well-established guest mix series. In her selections, she emphasizes consistency and the listener’s well-being, as she says, she always wants to convey some emotion with her mixes. Recently, she’s become a resident of the new local initiative Planeta Za, as well as the European collaborative project Gravity Network. She’s also started devoting herself to her own music production, and we can only look forward to what this will bring in the future.

Endless Illusion Mix #38 - Dissemblance

Dreamy and alluring, Dissemblance’s distinct compositions are suspended somewhere between introspective melancholia and the shadowy edges of the human soul. Her debut album Over the Sand’s (Mannequin Records, 2019) artful blend of different genres makes it one of the finest releases in the contemporary synth wave scene. Drawing inspiration from a universe made from asperity, she uses drum machines, enigmatic vocals, solid basslines, and field recordings to play with the unexpected. Dissemblance recorded a mix for us, in which she takes us on a journey through the various stages of her life that shaped her musical taste, from early raves in France to Karlheinz Stockhausen’s experimental work. At the same time, it can serve as an invitation to her live performance for the next Intergalactic FM Festival, as well as her forthcoming second album.

For the next part of our guest mix series, we’re honored to welcome Benedikt Frey. An active musician, label co-owner, and DJ, who has tirelessly supplied the market with his recordings since the beginning of the last decade, through labels such as ESP Institute, Hivern Discs, and Craigie Knowes. Just as Detroit built on the atmosphere of the post-industrial era of the 80's, Benedikt draws inspiration from the greatest technological change of the 90's, the transition from analog to digital. He talked to us about the risks, issues, and opportunities in the record industry, shirtless pictures on instagram, and obviously, music.
